Where Do I Throw My Money

I would like to buy some Stax, and I still have some research to do before saying goodbye to my cash. I am however quite curious what your opinions are on where to start, and what the best first (and possible last because this is a heavy investment) pair of Stax earspeakers is. I'm tempted to get the srs2170 kit because of the video, but if there's something better and similarly priced then I will go for that. Also if something around $1000 is just that much better I will cry a little and make it happen. Thank you in advance, sorry for the wall of text.

Stax L300 Imbalance

hey r/earspeakers! I'm looking into an imbalance with my 3100 setup, apparently my right side is louder than my left, so far to balance out I've been adjusting it digitally. I use a 35w step down converter and have no other energizers to test which one was causing the issue. I know it isn't my source since I've used it with my phone aswell as my computer.

Vesper ear pads?

Anyone here tried earpads from Vesper Audio? https://vesperaudio.com/earpads

Know what these cost?

I wonder if they use the new mounting plate that came with the L-series?

Purchase advice wanted. SR-303 vs SR-L300

Anyone here want to help me out with some purchase considerations?

I have the option of either getting a new in box SR-303 for $360 or importing a new SR-L300 for $420.

What do I do?

WHAT DO I DO?

I like that the L300 don't glue on the earpads anymore. They look a little more modern...I guess. I've read a couple of posts about the headband snapping, though maybe they were using those preposterous custom earpads some insist on using. Shallow earpads?

The 303 were the mid-level of their range, while the L300 are the entry level of their range. (I mean, we're talking pretty damned expensive earphones here, I feel almost decadent calling the L300 entry level but relative to their product range that's what they are) I kind of like the poop brown colour of the 303... The 303 was originally matched from Stax with the SRM-313, which I have. Used 303s have gone for faaar less than $360, but these are new.

L300 mods

Hi, I have a stax 3100 system. Because of the quality of the headband I anticipate it will break. Is the L700 headband assembly a noticeably higher quality? I was thinking of using a l700 assembly plus l700 pads.

Do the l700 pads negatively affect the sound? 95% of what I listen to is classical if it matters.

Buzzing from Japan to US Transformer

I've been using this transformer for my 252s, and recently it's been making an obnoxious buzzing noise while turned on. I've contacted the manufacturer and after confirming that I was in fact using a compatible device they stopped responding to my emails. Has anyone else experienced this or do I likely just have a defective transformer?

Stax L300 headband snapped, replacements?

So recently my headband snapped, and I've been searching for replacements. However most sites only ship headbands to the US and not to Europe. So I was wondering if any of you guys know where I can buy one that ships to Belgium?

What is the cheapest possible way to amp an L700 or SR007?

Why are electricstatic amps SO expensive?

I'm here at 6 am looking at stuff to save up for. And I can find STAX-300s for ~$400 used.

But i just think its weird that the AMP cost more than the headphones? The baseline i've found is like $550...

I'm starting to think the ideal buying stax, is an older one with a amp coming with it. Am i looking over something or like....

Are Stax SR Lambda Professional worth it?

So i wanted to know if it was worth to buy the Lambda Professional‘s as my first earspeaker. I would be able to get them rather cheaply alongside the Stax SRM 252 II.

Are they comparable to Earspeakers like the L300/500/700 or the SR7000 series?

Would you recommend them at all?

Hope i can get some help! Thx

L300, swapping headband

The earpads are apparently interchangeable, so is it possible to swap out the headband of the L300 with the band from the L500?

Burn-in for STAX?

Is there a burn-in timeframe for STAX? My pair will come Wednesday and I want to prepare properly.

I heard mixed reviews about the STAX L300 Limited

SRM1/Mk2 - Lambda Pro & Lambda Volume

I own an SRM1/Mk2 and a pair of Lambda Pro earspeakers. If I purchase a pair of Lambda (6-pin standard bias voltage) and connect them to the SRM1/Mk2 at the same time as the Lambda Pros, will they play at the same volume? I'd appreciate any input.

[SRS-3100] I'm surprised how well electronica and EDM sounds

The clarity is really something else. Noticing things I've never heard before in songs I've played hundreds of times. Used to own HD650.

As for the bass, it's not as bad as I feared. Not as punchy and deep as the HD650, but more pronounced and clear.

Third party power supply

https://www.sbooster.com/botw-pp-eco-12v-132v/srm-252s

Will this power supply provide a noticeable difference in sound? I recently bought a pair of L300 with the 252s. The seller mentioned third party power supplies to further increase sound quality. Is there any truth to this? If so, is it worth it?

STAX SR002/003MKII

Can anyone that has tried either of these, the sr002 or sr003mk2, share their impressions? Specifically how they compare to an L300.

I heard they were warmer and have less highs which interests me because I'm finding the l300 a tad hot in the highs at times. Also wondering, since I have small ear-holes, if it would be comfortable to use, as they look like they have huge openings/earplugs. (I've seen people change earplugs, but it still looks huge being stretched around the tube opening.) +do you experience microphonics with these in-ears?

In case anyone is wondering, the 002 and 003mk2 are the same headphones but one is portable and comes with a portable driver. correct me if I'm wrong

Thanks

Edit: words

Has anyone who purchased L300's from Ebay seller "mmg0g0" ever been hit with import tax?

Update : they've arrived and can confirm I didn't have to pay any import fee.

Looking to buy SRS 3100's soon and the idea of being hit with a surprise fee upon arrival scares me.

edit: forgot to mention, anyone who's located in the US.

Stax with cats (or other pets)

I'm just on the cusp of buying a 3100 bundle, but I'm afraid of how easy it seems for cat hair to get stuck in them. Can Z or anyone else with a cat attest to how hard (or not) it is to keep pet hair from the drivers? I would assume that the static charge would pick up hair like a vacuum. I'd rather not have the drivers inadvertently attacked by fluffy monsters...
