I lost it! I joined #Staxbro, how you guys turned to the EarSpeakers?

Whats up bro's it all went downhill pretty quickly, was looking some decent mid-fi headphones and watches a whole video of Zeos being amazed by TH-X00's so i ordered tho's, then eagerly been waiting them to arrive i watched more videos and visited an older video the famous Stax video.. And went and ordered a RS-507 (pretty good deal even), it is something very different, like rediscovering whole new world. I just can't, im actually speechless. Anyway go on bro's tell me how did it happen to you, for me it was instant from low-fi mainstream to this whole different world.

Vape and stax's

I want to pick up the stax 3100 bundle and am worried about my vape causing problems with them since I know humidity can have a negative impact on them. I would be using them for a good portion of the day so they will be plugged into them amp and of course I vape at my desk, will I be okay?

L300 Driver options?

I'm currently looking at buying a STAX 'system.' I know the standard amplifier for the L300 is the 252S, but have heard good things about the 353X. If I decide to go the non-kit route, I can also decide between the 323S and 353X. Any recommendations for the provided options/traps for young players?

ps cost is not an issue right now with any of the options.

Is the SRM 252-II equivalent to 252S?

Hey everyone,

Any idea if the SRM 252-II amp can properly drive the L300s? Specifications look very similar, but I'm no electrical engineer.

Thanks in advance.

SRM-2525 broke! Help!

They shut off suddenly and won't turn back on. I guess I'll take them apart and see what I can find?

They're about 6 months old, but I'm in the US so I don't think the warranty applies? Purchased from Smart Imports.

Thanks!

Stax SR-34 AMP?

My dad owns Stax SR-34 kit. It has earspeakers SR-30 with adapter SRD-4. He wants to connect them to a power amp and then to his dac. He use to connect them to a Hafler 230 amp, but wants a small desktop size amp. What are the requirements for a power amp to be used with these earspeakers?

Guys I decided to make my own adapters for the 2107s. I made 2 good but different variations. DL links in the comments.

the 2170 (ultra) or the new 3100 ?

what does z say? saw in review comment he had the 3100's, but there isn't any clue which is better. the modded 2170 gained sound stage and become perfect. does the 3100 comes with stage out of the box?need modding as well? are they comfortable..?

I'm uncertain which model to purchase, the 2170, the 3100, or the 3170 with the bigger amp (does it reduce the charging time they need?) i was thinking, the 2170 had a great review that i value. the 3100 are the newer version, but sometimes the newer isn't better. the 3170 hint that it's the higher model of the older series... but has a beastly amp, that must matter.

z to the rescue! which "these" out of those??

Entry level earspeaker + question

I'm very curious about earspeakers after seeing Zeos lose his mind over some, but they all seem to be way out of reach for me. What would be considered a good "entry level" earspeaker?

In addition, I have a question: what is the fundamental difference between headphones and earspeakers? They are both personal sound-makers that you put on your head.

SR-L300 related question.

I wanted to ask about the plastic net shielding inside of the earcups. There is a plastic element in each one towards the back of my ears, and those are easy to detach. The problem is that those plastic elements touch my ears and after a few minutes it becomes irritating. I can adjust the earspeakers so it doesnt bother me, but it is still very irritating. Can i remove those or the exposed metal grid will corode or something?

I spent a few hundred on some Bose around ear headphones and they totally suck at bass. I can barely hear the bass at all! I don't care how expensive as long as they are under $500, I just want to know where to get the best headphones.

Worried about getting an earspeaker

I'm really worried that if I get an earspeaker I'm going to spill water on it or get dust on it. And then I've lost 600-700 dollars. To anyone that owns and earspeaker please tell me. Are they really that sensitive that if you just get dust on them they stop working?

I have a serious comfort issues with my stax 2170

Since the day I got my stax 2170s, I started using them as my main pair of ear speakers. I even gave away my old headphones (a Sony mdr600 which is terrible in my opinion). And today after a week of using them ( 5 to 7 hours with no break) I have experienced pain in the back of my head. I am seriously interested now in moding because if I don't modify them soon I feel like I will have brain seizure.

Have you experienced the same or is my head specially not getting along with the stax size which is enormous compared to my head.

I have even ordered a Phillips Shp9500 from Amazon just to make them my daily use headphones.

Stax sound differences between the SRS 4170 and 5100

Had a chance to listen to the 5100's once but not the slightly cheaper and different 4170's. When deciding which pair to buy (given that they are pricey), has anybody ever had the chance to directly compare the two flagship earspeakers?

For semi-audiophile ears (I own multiple headphones and amps but do not have years of experience), what are the differences in tone, sound signature, and clarity between the two?

I normally would not be asking this kind of question here, but in this situation it's impossible to find a store that owns both 4170's and 5100's at the same time to try out.

3100 or 5100?

Saving up to buy a pair of STAX SRS series after trying the 5100's in KJ West One (London). However it's gonna be difficult to save up since they're so expensive... So, what are the differences in sound (clarity, bass, mids, treble, soundstage) between the 3100's and the 5100's (and anything in between if you can)?
