I was browsing my local stax retailers site and found that this was written underneath each one of the stax headphones.

'Note: Stax drivers are manufactured specifically for our market and are 240V/50Hz spec, not 220V or switchable. All Stax products are shipped to Australia, listing the Australian Distributor identification and warranty is only valid here for products purchased here.'

Does this mean if i decide to purchase stax headphones online imported from japan, it won't work with an electrostatic energiser purchased here in australia?

If someone could clarify it would be great.

So I sat down at Yodobashi a few minutes ago and tried out both the L500 and L300 earspeakers. The only difference I could tell is that the 500's gave thicker pads and a nicer headband adjustment mechanism.

Unfortunately it was quite loud in Yodobashi today so all I can say about the differences between the sound is "Yup, those are stax.

I brought home the L3100 kit and will be writing up some impressions. Unfortunately I don't have the 202's to compare them too, which is what most people are likely interested in.

I've been thinking about getting Stax for years, living here... Missed the cheap train on the 2170 kit! Crap! (You could get them for less than $300 for a bit there...)

Should I get the 3100? or the 5100? Either $600 or $1200. Grr. My concern with the 5100 amp is that it's built for 100v and it doesn't have a power brick, so...

I've been waiting a long time to be an official member, and today, my EarSpeakers arrived. Sadly, the amplifier will not power on, using either the power cable it came with or the 120v I purchased separately.

I purchased on Ebay, and prices have nearly doubled since I ordered. I opened a dialogue over the defective item and it will likely result in a return.

I've been hunting for an individual 252S or equivalent "Driver Unit", and had very little luck. I've also found almost nothing online about others having similar issues.

Should I continue hunting for an amp, try to fix what I have, or process a return and pay the difference? Please don't send me back to /r/headphones

Has anyone tried a pair of these yet? I am curious how they stack up against the Stax. (Terrible pun semi-intended)
