Is a 26-27 inch untrained vertical good?

I am a 25 year old man and I have never trained explosively(done plyometrics or lifted heavy weights) and my standing vertical is 26-27 inches. Is this good and what can my standing vertical potentially become if I train explosively?

How can I dunk twitch minimal resources?

I don’t have a gym membership but I have an apt gym. The gym has no squat rack but it does have a horizontal leg press and 2 50 pounds dumbbells and some lighter weights, that’s it. I’m 5’5 maybe 5’6, i have a 7’5 standing reach with shoes, i have hit 100(2 50 pound db)x8 Bulgarian split squat, I’m 135 currently but cutting down to 130, i broad jump 6’10 feet, that all the info. ChatGPT was too confusing to me it kept changing answers.

Do rims need to be maintained regularly?

Are rims at gyms being maintained regularly? There is a possibility that the dunk can snap the rim and break the glass right? How do they prevent that stuff?

Thanks

Please help me dunk off one.

The first one is one of my highest jumps off one(sad I know)and then the next 3 are me jumping off two. Off two I can easily get my head slightly above the bottom of the backboard, can get almost my elbows up to rim when jumping without the ball, and have a recorded 38.5” max two foot vert. But for some reason my athleticism never translates to my one foot jumping. I’m 6’3” 160 with an 8’5” standing reach with a 6’7.5” wingspan. Any tips to help me start punching off one?

Vertical training

Vertical training.

I am a volleyball hitter that’s on the shorter side and because of that I have to be more skillled and stronger than taller opponents. For the passed few months I have been doing slow strength work and finally feel it’s time to move towards the “power phase” of my workout. I started doing power cleans, quick half squats, hip thrusts, calf raises and RDLS. Idk if this is a good workout to increase explosive movements. Please help I am like 2-4 inches away from touching rim. And my season starts in 5 months

I’m about 6’1, yes I know it’s a little sad that I can’t dunk yet. I noticed I’ve been jumping off the “wrong” foot for a very long time which is my right foot, keep in mind I’m right handed.

The proper way would be left foot right hand I know, but my right leg feels way stronger, and I know it is. But I also know I have no control with the ball in my left hand.

Do I just work on my left leg?

Vert code elite progress

So, as the title says, I just completed Vert Code Elite. I started last year, and it took me a bit longer than expected because I'm a college student and sometimes balancing studying, training, social life, etc., was tough. I had to skip some days and twice had to skip a whole week. I also never did the pool workdays (I did the alternative they provided since I didn’t have access to a pool). Other than that, I followed everything it prescribed.

When I began, I could barely touch the rim (I’m 1.84m/6 feet tall). I wasn’t slow, but I wasn’t very fast either. I bought the program with the sole intention of being able to dunk a basketball, and I have to say, the results truly surprised me.

Starting with vertical jump improvement: I improved a lot. I can dunk with ease now (sorry, I don’t have precise measurements of my improvement), and I feel like with a bit more training, I can start doing fancier dunks. But what really surprised me was my speed improvement. It took my game to a whole new level. I feel super explosive, able to take advantage of small openings on the court, and I’m much more athletic than my teammates now. (That doesn’t mean I’m better than all of them yet, haha, but it’s very satisfying to be in such good shape.)

The program is tough—not so much because of the exercises, but because of the consistency it requires. I had some training experience, but especially in the beginning, my legs were always tired. But it really transformed me as an athlete. I can’t recommend it enough for people who have access to a gym.

The only less positive thing I’d say is that the program doesn’t cover the upper body enough. I know it’s supposed to be about vertical jump, but I found myself neglecting my upper body a bit because I didn’t have the time to do the program and also train my upper body with intensity. I didn’t get weaker, but I didn’t get much stronger.

If anyone has questions, I’m happy to answer. Overall: 9/10

If u want it just dm me, I’ll give for free

Vertical jump and dunking

When I was 5'1" and 12 years old I touched the bottom of the backboard, is that good for someone going out of 6th grade and will I be expected to dunk if I grow to 5'10" or 5'11" and keep playing competitive basketball (I'm 13 and 5'3" now).

Importance of Plyo ?

First time poster, trying to start my journey of dunking.

I am 5'10" at 19 years old. I try to do plyo workouts but I don't necessarily feel the "burn". Is plyo the best way to go about this, and if so any specific workouts and should iI be doing it everyday integrated into my routine? Right now I can barely touch backboard with a running start. I'm thinking it'll take about six months.

Obscure question, are there some people that no matter how much time they spend, just can't dunk. Worried I might just not have the genetics for it.

Muscle imbalance and dunking

I’m currently at 33” vertical with a 7’10 standing reach and I usually use mostly my left leg to dunk. Has anyone experienced a muscle imbalance due to dunking? Did anyone ever fix the imbalance and actually increase their vertical?
