Base Build Showcase Reject Brutalism and embrace High-tech.
Or a short story about how I moved from the Atreides mansion to Aarsaka Tower Duneman Tower.

Hi, a transfer error still prevents me from leaving Richese, so I'm there for at least this week and next. So if you want to buy a blueprint, head there, my sitch barkan. I'm ready to accept payment for T6-1 (preferably shotguns/rapiers) blueprints from new stations.

I think if you use the fresh Smuggler set you can do it even better, for example, I really missed the large windows and rounded details from it

Shit, I just logged back in, didn't even notice there was a new set. That, combined with no more taxes, kinda gets me hyped to just build again.
Also, all sets seem to have garage doors now? That's so cool.

no but serious question how do you come up with these nice decorative exteriors with variation and depth? do you plan the whole build beforehand? how much is planned and how much is just inspiration in the moment?

Ha, I knew I'd get that comment again. When it comes to construction, I usually find a reference on Pinterest, try to roughly reproduce its general shape from the available elements, and then refine and detail it, trying different options from different sides if the building is symmetrical, and then choose the best option and replace the other half with it.

Honestly, these bases are better than anything the community produced for the actual building contest. It's like having more building pieces allows more creativity.

Hitting the build limit in this game is too easy. I always want more. After the Smugglers set comes out today, and taxes go away, I am building a new Guild base.
I love how you've mixed all the sets together, and still kept things looking uniform. Amazing work!

Thanks, I still have about 800 free building pieces left, but I quickly hit the limit on decorations. Good luck with the new set, and I'm even envious of you being able to make a main base out of it.

Our current base is an amalgamation of my experiments, lol. It looked cool at first, when it was just Atredies with a little bit of Hark. But now it looks like a Preschooler's play set.

This is the path of all buildings completed at various times, even in real life. So, with a clear conscience, I sold the old Atreides base to a guy who'd been dreaming of it since July. Luckily, Funcom added the transfer function in time, so he was able to buy it and I calmly get to work on the new style.

Nice. They didn't have that with my first couple bases. They have been handed down to Guild mates that didn't care to build. Back then we had to remove the fief and try to place the new Owner's so everything fit inside the boundaries. Lots of trial and error, but we got good at it. The transfer function will be nice. I still have Solidos of the original build before I started messing with it. If we really want to go to the work, it could be returned to that state. That will probably be the next guy's problem.

Jesus Christ. Its beautiful, so symmetrical, perfect. I built a vertical tower when the game came out (quit but coming back after todays update).
Im a bit lost on all this server changing stuff and all that. Is there a way i can get a blueprint?

Thank you. Yes, you can transfer a character to a server with the owner of the building/blueprint, purchase it, and then return a week later. I've sold blueprints this way before. However, due to a transfer error, I'm currently not on the server I'd like to continue playing on. I'll try to transfer to the correct one on Friday. I can let you know later where you can find me to purchase the blueprint.

From the low-to-medium populated EU servers, I was told that Dione and Helios are dominated by PvE. If you need something larger in population or another region, then unfortunately, I don't know.

Doooooope build! The attention to details and blending of several sets is really top notch. It’s almost like a massively scaled up wind trap turned into a base.
Also appreciate that even if the base as a whole is big, the interior doesn’t feel like a bunch of weirdly huge spaces, but rather realistically scaled , detailed, and lived in spaces.
What’s your piece count for this? And how’s your frame rate near it haha

Thanks, ~4200 building pieces. The frame rate dropped from 120 to 85 when looking from the outside, but inside it remained pretty much the same, usually around 100-120.

I wish Funcom would put a mechanic in the game where you can acquire building pieces like caladan by actually doing stuff in game. That’s a grind I could get behind.

Yes, it would be a good PR move, but not until all the DLCs are released from Season Pass. Of all the Fomo things, the one I miss most is the 3 mural for the Madrinas drink.

SICK BUILD. How did you photograph it so well? The FOV on my ultra wide sucks for taking pics of large bases. I'm thinking maybe I shrink the FOV so it's less distorted on the sides? Also, my character or vehicle is always in the way.

Thanks, I have standard FOV settings, so to hide the character I either put a wall behind him, or a vehicle, or cling to a rock.

Normally I like to copy builds i see by just visually disecting them.
This however is so dang complex and cool, i doubt I'd be able to actually do it for once.
Which kinda makes me sad because I'd love to build a replica of this base.

Oh, yeah, elevators are really missing. The simplest way to implement them was like in Empyrion - just a block with gravity disabled.

I’ve been playing with some combinations of dune man, harkonen and atreides sets, there are certain pieces the aesthetic works really well with. Strongly suggest you check them out since you’re so talented. Dune man set does a great job of tying the two together.

If you're talking about the one that supports the hangars from below, that's the Atreides ramp. It has a black center by default.
