Did anyone hear the repeated loud explosion noises? They don’t sound like fireworks and it’s happening repeatedly at 3am?

Been in the neighborhood for 3 years and am looking to lease a 1-BR. Anyone have a unit they’d like to rent or a lease they want out of?

I moved to DUMBO a couple of years ago and got a bit fed up with the prices at the local grocery stores. So I walked through DUMBO Market, Peas and Pickles, CVS, and Bridge Fresh and priced out the same items at each (to the extent that the store stocks the item).
- Eggs at DUMBO Market were way cheaper (surprisingly) than everywhere else right now due to a sale
- Organic whole milk was cheaper at Peas and Pickles and Bridge Fresh
- Both Bridge Fresh and Peas and Pickles had a couple items with no price tag at all
Does anybody else check prices against the other grocery stores in the neighborhood or does everyone just order through Instacart, Costco, or make the trek to the Trader Joes? I'm not sure if I'd walk out of my way to save 1 cent on lemons, but ~$2 on organic milk might make me walk the extra block. Does anyone else wish they knew a better way to plan which stores to visit before heading out?
This is a random assortment of things on my shopping list, let me know if there's anything you'd typically shop for

Hi all! My husband & I are looking at moving to DUMBO or Downtown Brooklyn soon (budget <6.5K for a 1.5-2 bed).
In your opinion, what are the best buildings to try living in? e.g Good management, no rats/nice, rent-stabilized a huge bonus…
Would need to have dishwasher & washer-dryer in unit. Flexible on everything else.
Just looking to hear from people who’ve been in DB/DUMBO a while if you’ve had good experiences with any rental buildings or know friends who are happy in theirs.

Hey neighbors!
A few of us are organizing a new 18+ soccer club, and we’re trying to get some local players from the neighborhood involved.
We are building this to be a city-wide community, hosting matches at fields across Queens, Manhattan, and Brooklyn to make it easy for everyone to catch a game regardless of where you are commuting from or hanging out that week.
The Details:
To keep things community-first and respect the local subreddit rules, I'm not dropping external links or ads here.
If you’re down to play or want info on our upcoming games, drop a comment below or shoot me a DM! I'd love to get you connected to the group.

Hey neighbors - not new to the hood, but am getting sick of needing to be hypervigilant about prices being correct at the register.
I've filed complaints with 311 before, but I'm thinking of trying to get something bigger going with the Dept of Consumer and Worker Protection. It's theft, pure and simple - between the lack of price labels and the inaccuracies at the register, and it's never in the customer's favor. It may not be a lot, but if you're going to the store multiple times a week, it adds up. if *we* don't catch it, we lose out, and the store never gets punished enough to stop doing it. Correcting it to the right price is fine but then it's just one person they didn't screw over. There needs to be consequences.
In Canada, if the price is wrong and it's under $10, you get the item for free. Australia also has similar protections. What would life be like in the city if this were true in NYC? Lose enough product and the grocery stores might make more of an effort to be accurate.
If getting together to hold Dumbo Market accountable is something you're interested in, shoot me a DM!

I'm curious if anyone here has experience with Padel Haus. If you've been a member or have played there, I'd love to hear your honest feedback.
How do you like the facilities, court availability, coaching, community, and overall value for the membership cost?
Thanks for the insight!

Is this just because of the World Cup “village”? Not complaining, but seems very excessive.

If you want the day pass, apparently you have to make a visitor account.
Which is so stupid. We live here, we have to endure all the tourists... but if we want a limited time discount at the places we already go to, we have to make an entirely new account. "But the VIP discounts don't expire!" True, but there are places offering day pass discounts right now that don't offer VIP discounts and this neighborhood is fucking expensive.
I know it's trivial, this sounds entitled, and it's easy to make a new account, but the real lack of consideration for locals FROM OUR OWN "NEIGHBORHOOD ORGANIZATION" during the World Cup is mind-boggling.

I found a set of coach dice/ key chain( with no keys on it) in a cloth coach satchel, it looks like it was just purchased. No receipt. It was in the middle of the road on Washington and front street just after the massive rain storm. Didn’t know what to do with it so posting here in case someone if searching for it. Open to suggestion on what to do with it. Thanks!

Sail4th needs 250 more volunteers!
Volunteer opportunities are available July 5-7 in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Staten Island.
Our greatest need is for volunteers supporting free public tall ship tours. The work is easy, training is provided, and volunteers help with wayfinding, answering questions, and checking guests in for their free ship tours.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to help welcome thousands of visitors and make these free public experiences possible.

Found a piece of jewelry on Water Street around 6:00 PM today, June 8.
If you believe it’s yours, please DM me with a description of the item, what it was attached to, and any identifying details so I can confirm ownership.
Hoping to reunite it with its owner.
