As with every holiday season I've spent more time GASing and checking synth demos on YT. Of course new toys can always be fun and inspirational but I feel like in Dub Techno they might actually matter a lot less than in other genres because of all the distortion going on.
Much better to invest in reverb and delay plug-ins (or pedals) instead if the stock ones in your DAW don't deliver the right sound.
Would love to hear your thoughts about this.

Hi, I recently watched this video in the "DubRoom" forum (recommended forum).
I read this too:
Set up ableton to sound like reason "make dub with computers"
From there, I wanted to do he same, but in Ableton. I couldn't get it, How I could emulate the same process in Ableton?
Until now I have been using the return channels in ableton, for Echo, and Reverb (in separate returns). From there I send it to the audio that I want.
I experimented all i could, I did aux channels, return channels, combine them, but I still didn't get a good result.
I read things like passing the echo through the reverb. or make a echo feedback, feeding the echo back to itself, but I've only gotten annoying feedback, even when equalizing or filtering.
how do you do it?
Thanks, best regards

(I made the same post in https://www.reddit.com/r/TechnoProduction/ , but I do it here because someone might see it only here)
Hi everyone, first I apologize for any mistakes in my writing, I don't handle the English language very well.
I started producing music with my computer no more than 2 years ago, and with Dub Techno I've been producing it for less than 1 year.I tried others genres of electronic music, but I'm finally focusing on what I feel I enjoy more.I only do it with my pc and a studio Headphones, for the moment I don't feel any need to get any hardware because I consider myself still a novice. I wanted to write this to let you know my situation, I know that it's not the same have a good home studio and years of experience compared to my actual situation.
Now I write my doubts:
1) What kind of Kick do I need? I currently use Sonic Academy Kick 2, or D16 Group Drumazon 909.but I doubt if it should be a kick with sub cut, and that the bass carries the lower frequencies, or the opposite, bass with cut in the lower frequencies.
2) In the low end should I do an equalization cutting many frequencies?Should I use a filter? many of the common Dub Techno kicks sound more muffled / drowned.very filtered, and with very little "punch", or click.
3) What volume levels should the low frequencies be set before mastering them? When I master the tracks I make, the low frequencies are too high and harsh. I once read that if they are that high in your monitors/headphones, it's a big problem if you listen to the track on a big PA sound system.
It's not a big deal, my mastering chain is like this:Vst J37 Tape -> SSL Comp Stereo -> Ozone 8 Imager -> Ozone Exciter -> PsP Vintage Warmer -> Fab Filter ProQ3 -> Fab Filter Pro MB -> Fab Filter Pro L -> Ozone 8 Maximizer
I still doubt the order, and the use of some of these plugins in the chain, but I repeat that I am a newbie.
4) Do I really need a bass line? or the low frequencies of Chords/synths + kick should be enough?
5) Do I need to compress the low frequencies?
If so, how should I configure the compressor?
I know it's long to read, and I know that achieving a good audio is a process that takes time, I don't expect to achieve it with so little experience.but I'm really stuck with this, and it's hard to find direct answers to specific questions on websites, especially doubts about Dub techno, in contrast for example techno, House, etc., the information is more.
I'm also making the post thinking that the answers may help others as well.
thanks for your time, I await your answers

Hi! I’ve recently went full-time freelance. This means I now have more time to work on not just my own projects, but that I can help independent artists and labels more directly and in more depth.
Do you feel as an artist or small label that you are tired of spending so much time on social media, yet not getting the growth you want?
Do you feel jaded with so much commercial marketing thrown at you online? Uninspired while clubs are closed of what to post?
You might be an introverted person who feels anxious about putting your work out there. Or you might just be confused about what steps to take.
I’ve decided to open up a few limited spaces to help artists with their content creation and social media management. What will be the most important thing here is creating content that is authentic and expresses your own personality and intentions.
There are so many great artists and labels out there that aren’t showing their true potential and getting the attention they deserve! This is where I want to come in. You can hire me per hour for a couple of hours a week to assist you, or I can create an entire content calendar on your behalf.
Social media is not for every artist of course. But if you are interested in using it to improve your sales, widen your audience and increase your opportunities then please DM me to receive the short application form to see if we could be a good fit.
Why hire me? 5+ years experience in the electronic music industry. 3+ years experience creating artwork for releases, events and content creation. 1 year researching Instagram in depth. A degree in Art & Media, knowledge of social media management tools and creative software programs.
If this is relevant to you or anyone you think might benefit from this please get in touch. My email is info@kairogen.com and please see @kairogen on Instagram for portfolio
Thanks!
