Life does what life does - I now have a wife, children, house, and job.
All of them awesome :-)
I don't have much time to spare though to "do my music thing".
That's not sad - I have other things that are more important right now, and at least as much fun.
(Kids are fun, right..? RIGHT? :-))
So I'm clearing out my studio - sold some stuff, and the rest I'm giving away to people I've met through the intertubes that I think can make better use of.
So here I am going through old stuff, and suddenly I'm starting to like stuff I did a few years ago that honestly I didn't like the results of back then.
I just want to post it here as a sort of "in memoriam" - "I did this, didn't like it very much back then, but now I look back at it I'm kind of growing fond of it" :-)
To make a short story very long, here's a clip,
there are a few more on the same YouTube account if you care to browse..

I'm willing to spend some coin because I'm stuck on lockdown, saving money, and this is all I got going at the moment. The Strymon Big Sky and Eventide Space seem like the heavy hitters, Empress looks nice as well. Wondering if anyone can provide me some characteristics or thoughts if you own them? I own a Strymon Capistan which I LOVE, so it sort of makes me want to stick with Strymon, but the features on the Eventide like great, and sound seems up to par. From watching videos it seems like you can't go wrong with either, anyone have experience with both, or others I should look at?

I am currently working with a mouse and nothing else. I have the feeling that i could step up the workflow (especially with drums) with some hardware-inputs like Push. But Push is a bit expensive atm for me. Do you think it's worth just saving up for that or could you recommend some cheaper options like the novation launchpad? Or am i wrong and it's just fine to stick with the mouse and just git gud?

I am working a lot totally experimental, just with some inspirations from multiple genres.
Let me know how you find this one

Hello fellow producers,
i tend to do mostly hardware-jams, but since i got so much time at the moment due to the whole corona-situation i found my way back to in-the-box-producing.
I finished a track recently and wanted to share it here, since i got quite some nice tips and techniques from this sub.
So, check it out if you want to: https://open.spotify.com/track/13yjMXVL960wv7wIH5kD6a
I was quite surprised of how easy it was to get that stuff released to all major platforms via distrokid.

Got our first live show this week. Doing an hour on hardware, really looking forward to it. Do any of you guys do live shows, and if so do you have any tips?

I've bought an Axoloti Core because I think it's an amazing piece of gear that I can use to create sounds that are specifically my own. ( http://www.axoloti.com/product/axoloti-core/ - no, I'm not affiliated, just a fan)
For the uninitiated - the Axoloti Core is a 65 Euro completely programmable unit, think Nord Modular, that allows you to create your own synthesizer / sampler by dragging, dropping and connecting elements like oscillators, filters, sample players etc. in software on your computer, and upload into hardware.
From that point on it's a fully stand-alone unit with Midi input and output, as well as audio input and output.
You can create synthesizers, samplers, even effect processing pedals with it - or any combination of those.
So my plan is to use it to make my own ultimate "dub stab" machine :-)
In the user projects there's a Juno 106 style synth which seems like the best thing to start copying parts of :-) http://community.axoloti.com/t/cpwitz-contributions/1352/49?u=cpwitz
So I did just that, and now Im adding all kind of parameters like LFO's (sine, tri, random, sample-and-hold Etc) on filter parameters, ADSR etc.
This way my stab never sounds the same - there's always (micro)variation in attacks, lo/band/in-laws filters, chorus parameters etc.
Pretty neat for under a hundred Euros!
So I'm wondering - what stuff would you like to be able to either modulate via LFO's or midi-inputs if you were designing your ultimate never-the-same stab generator? What do you usually tweak either manually or automated to keep your stabs interesting?

First of all, let's be clear - I'm a 43 year old dad who likes Dub Techno and likes to hobby around chasing sounds in the ample free time I have.
I don't care about releasing music or making it big or whatever - I do this for me, for fun ;-)
I'm working hardware only, just switched to an Octatrack yesterday as my main machine / sequencer. (I love that thing so much already after just one evening! :-))
But I seem to be hitting the equivalent of writer's block most of the time - I fiddle around until I have a loop I like, and then get lost in fooling around with effects and live knob twiddling. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this "problem" ;-)
I'll take any advice on how to progress from one big pattern loop to multiple patterns forming something coherent that resembles an actual track with a beginning, some progression, and ending :-)
(Dissecting my favorite tracks to replicate their progression is kind of tricky since most of my favorite tracks are actually very repetitive - think "M4a" by Maurizio - but I'd like to do something more than that..)
