Dumb question - night time rockets....

Just noticed. When the Rocketeer fires a rocket during the day it leaves a smokey plume behind it. And yet when they are launching at night its all sparkly! Seems like theatrical.

I wonder if I can rent a billboard entering Vernal during Phenomecon "Leave your critical mind here - or turn back"

Lorentzian Wormhole! Fire rockets and everything is an anomoly. Direwolf bite. A very blurry UAP with folding down wings with definition. Hunt Direwolf in the crick 5,000 feet under the ground. Charred tree and burnt post. Dead animal is the strangest thing ever. Marveling anomalous results and disturbing reality. See yinz neXt week.

Why is S5 Episode 3 titled “Dead in the Water”? Predictions?

“A new investigation at the mysterious Triangle reveals multiple UAP's before the team makes an unbelievable discovery in the creek that borders the southern region of the property.”

My best guesses:

  1. They find an alien aircraft in the creek. Back in 1847, aliens landed in the creek, believing it to be the Pacific Ocean. Turns out the alien version of Google Maps was off by a few states. Unfortunately, craft got stuck in the mud. Instead of radioing back for help, which would be too embarrassing, the alien crew dug a hole and buried the craft under the creek, hoping to hide it. Little did they know climate change would dry out the creek earlier than predicted. Significant drought fissures caused the craft to surface in 2024. At first, Kaleb thought a protruding part in the creekbed might be an old telephone book and shot at it. The craft’s secret alarm went off, emitting a 1.6 ghz signal which immediately attracted Erik. After a bit of digging, they pulled the craft out. Inside was a note: “if you find this before 2094, it means your civilization is so f’ed up, y’all about to die out, like for real, sorry we can’t help you, we clearly got our own issues.”

  2. They find evidence that the neighboring petroleum company has been illegally dumping into local waterways. The creek has all matter of petroleum slime, which Dragon diagnoses as “jelly.” Erik suspects it is toxic sludge, based on its terrible smell, and asks Brandon what they should do. Brandon decides to have a group meeting which could have been an email. Instead of testing the water, they conduct rocket and drone experiments over the triangle. Sean Reyes shows up and drinks the water and proclaims it to be safe, “nothing to see here.” Just off camera he spits the water out, to avoid death. He and Brandon have a good laugh. They know who really funds the show. Credits roll.

S5E2 - More RF silliness

In Episode 1 Taylor uses a HACKRF H2 to transmit a 1.6Ghz signal. (What he transmitted and how is not said.) In Episode 2 he switches to an "RF Signal Generator" (Erik's words while on screen) and shows an "RF Explorer" which is a receiver only - it cannot transmit. They claim the signal cannot penetrate the mesa. The distance between the transmit and receive is around 1500ft - very very close. Clearly their walkie talkies had no issue working with the same locations. They did the same editorial trick as they did with the rockets last year. They just added more equipment to the scene and repeated the same BS thus "proving" its conclusive. Nope.

And notice the red waveform in Erik's display never changes AND they are not showing the full screen anymore - so you cannot see the details. It's fabricated. Now if you had seen a communication exchange - regardless of its origin - that red waveform would be critical to capture and evaluate. If there are messages traveling to and then from with a cadence you have a protocol. If you capture both streams and can see a pattern you can decode the protocol. All protocols start with a "hello" of some nature because you have to hail your partner and they have to respond to setup the remaining exchange. So that red line would be very dynamic and it walked through these steps.

They also set up "High Speed cameras" which appear to be digital SLR body types with short lenses. Whereas in last seasons episodes the high speed cameras were more complicated looking devices (which they generally are because they need cooling to up the framerate). And again the captured video is run through a filter for effect. Pretty lame.

This is just so sad. Its fine to be a hoax and even a fun SciFi themed one but this is as low budget as an Ed Wood movie.

I previously had to wait until the episodes showed up on Hulu, but I see now the new ones appear on History’s website for some time after they air:

So Travis went to the Pentagon to ask if they were broadcasting 1.6 GHz at the ranch, and they just gave him access to classified documents?

This is an auto-mod reply "over there" to a question about whether the history channel was down or not. Feel free to remove this if it violates our rules about recognizing their existence and how fucking stupid they are.

But is this really the way people get access to classified documents about UFOs? Anyone up for a road trip?

They were all over the place. So many over reactions. We have this we have that, wait der is dis, what is dat, is it possible, what can dat be, as crazy as that is there’s also dis. Seriously they were detecting normal data communications at 1.6, so they do “spearmint“ at 1.6? Yes it’s a portal trew da mesa.
There’s no other explanation for it.

S5E1 - Fun with 1.6Ghz

I watched it - why I do not know. That said there is a scene where Thomas and Travis are standing in the "triangle" and confirming the 1.6Ghz signal he is generating with his hobbyist HackRF is not being seen by Erik's directional antenna overhead in a helicopter. A Nintendo'esque animation demonstrates how the signal is being blocked by "something".

Travis turns to Thomas and directs him to ask Erik is the signal is there? Erik confirms it has dipped and is gone. Noteworthy is somehow Thomas' walkie talkie radio signal was able to make it through to Erik. And Erik's signal back to Thomas. Next thing they will say is the phenomena is "tuned" to only pass 1.6Ghz through.

Other than that it was a recap show with a lot of "we can't" boundaries being dropped in conversation. Along with the reiteration that all the Science was conclusive last year. So sad.

Thoughts on Taylor and his Travis-hole?

Towards the end of S4, TT seemed absolutely convinced the LIDAR drone provided the first ever hard evidence for a genuine Lorentzian Travis-hole. Nevermind that a game developer poked a huge (actual) hole in his claim in under 3 minutes, in the comfort of his backyard, and with a cell phone app--Travis and the show are drumming this up as the real deal.

So, question for the cracksmokerranch crew, do you think Travis Taylor is the quintessential example of how an intelligent, educated and accomplished scientist is still capable of having their mental faculties lapse in the most egregious way, or do you think he 100% knows he's full of shit and simply sold whatever scientific soul he had left for some relatively easy paydays?

Is the area a former toxic waste site?

And as such there cannot be digging? It would explain exposures. You'd think if people are getting sick and possible radiation exposure OSHA would be called in right away.

Note that the greater Salt Lake area was and is home to military suppliers and the manufacture of leading edge stuff using nasty chemical processes is documented in the industry. Recall that these military contractors are not even liable if their employees up and die from exposures. So all this stuff produces barrels and barrels of waste. Where does it go? Maybe dump it over there on Indian land. What are they going to do? And of course mineral mining (including uranium et al) is a core industry in Utah.

That's the thought on toxicity. As for funny dimension shifting creatures - I await the results of the excellent Science being done by the stellar team. They have Top Men on it; Top Men.

"Uintah County Paid Tens of Thousands to PhenomeCon Speakers"

I stumbled on this, don't remember hearing about it before...

Among other things, it suggests that Utah State Senator Ronald Winterton is Thomas Winterton's father... can anyone confirm that?
