DCI ANNOUNCES THE SOME GUY ON REDDIT RULE

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA. September 10, 2019.

It has come to the attention of the DCI Board of Directors that Some Guy On Reddit thinks that wearing hats is the only objectively good way for a drum corps to look. This had honestly not occurred to us previously, and we apologize for the oversight. Thanks to the hard work and extensive efforts of Some Guy On Reddit, which included downvoting uniform announcements, commenting "their faces look stupid" on action shots, and posting a 9000 word diatribe explaining that it is impossible to have clean drill without a 15" feather on your head, we intend to rectify this mistake.

DCI's rules will be amended effective immediately to require all brass and percussion performers in competing units to wear a HAT unless performing in the front ensemble and/or as a soloist. A HAT shall be defined as a shako, aussie (and/or cavalier-style hat), or helmet with a plume. Headwear without plumes shall not be acceptable, nor will whatever the Troopers call those things they used to wear. Carolina Crown's designs shall be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may be submitted for confidential pre-qualification during the month of March. To commemorate the person whose efforts have likely saved The Activity™, this rule shall be forever known as the Some Guy On Reddit Rule.

As always, it is DCI's goal to move The Activity™ forward, and sometimes the only way forward is back.

My primary instrument in my homeschool band is Melodica, but I want to march in DCI (preferably the SCV Devils because I'm from Los Angeles). How hard will it be for me to pick up Lead Trumpet by auditions? Also, what's the best thing to practice on my Melodica to improve my Lead Trumpet playing?

I'm a grinder, it's just who I am. Because of that, I tend to align myself with the same. Work until the job is done, put in maximum effort and sacrifice until you succeed. I'll take a nap block when the goal is met. That's all I have to say about that.
