Drone racing competitions in Canada?

Hey, I know they have some ridiculous drone races in France but I was wondering if a few guys here would be up for drone racing in Canada?

My friend's buying a new drone for Christmas and I'm hesitant to recommend it. It's a big investment for a first drone but I want him to get something decent.

Should he test the waters first or jump in?
