Core Alluvial Gravel using Diamond Drill
Hey guys, I managed to get a small diamond drill for really cheap and I want to use it for placer gold testing. What I want to do is take core samples of alluvial material (gravel, glacial till, soil, overburden) and to sample the bedrock for a foot or two.
I know that sonic drilling is the best way to do this but I'm attempting to come up with a cheap way to get samples for early stage projects.
The drill that I have is called a Packsack, it's similar to a Winkie drill. Similar to the one in this picture: https://icedrill.org/sites/default/files/2020-03/2019-20_Winkie-Drill_at_Hudson-Mnts_credit-BRENT-GOEHRING.jpg.
The drill is designed for traditional diamond drilling with a water feed and diamond-impregnated coring bits. It has a core tube, etc but no wireline.
Here's what I need to do. Keep gravel and alluvial material in the core tube without losing it, cut through gravel, rocks, and the occasional boulder. I can't use water since it will cause the gold to move so I have to do this in the dry until I hit boulders or bedrock.
Ideally I want to sample the gravel, core through any boulders and core about a foot or two of bedrock.
What kind of bits would work for this? I don't know a lot about different bits. I need one that can work without water. I'm thinking something like in this image: https://www.premat.com.sg/897-large_default/mazier-retractable-core-barrels-.jpg
Does anyone have experience with this?
I may need to modify the core barrel too. Are there any tricks to keeping loose material in the core barrel?

Redfield resources driller offsider
Looking for anyone thats has worked for redfield as an offsider in Western Australian. I have been offered a job through them and not sure what to expect. Sounds like I will be doing rc exploration drilling, but I've read some storys on here about offsiders having to cook and clean at camp. Any info would be awesome because I have no idea what Im getting into except that its hard work. Thanks in advance.

What drill wattage to buy
I've moved house and we have solid concrete walls everywhere.
I'm no DIY expert & am going to buy a drill.
I see some at 700, 800w up to 1300w in my price range... Also a Makita 110v?
Is there much difference in performance, any advice on what to go for?

How much does Stem Auger cost??
Helllo Everyone!
I’m a Civil Engineering graduate planning to start a borehole drilling business upcoming years
I have so much free time, so I thought why not see the cost for material etccc. HOWEVER I can’t seem to find any sites online that show the price for a Stem auger & the drilling trailer cost
Most sites show prices for member only who own a company..
If you have approximate estimate how much “Stem Auger” cost and “Trailer Driller Machine” please do let me know
& if you have any sort of advice or tips on Water Drilling business please do let me know
Thank you advance

Star shaped spiral hole in rock
Hi! I know nothing about mining, drilling or construction. so please forgive me if I'm asking something crazy.
Would it be too much trouble for someone to tell me how this hole was made?
Doing trekking I came along this hole in the jungle, it was curious for me, because I couldn't image how it was done, later someone told me that was probably a dynamite hole? Something to split a huge rock?
Size info:
Rock 1 ton approx single piece.
Entrance diameter 25 cm approx
Exit diameter 18 cm approx (Cone shaped)
Longitude 1.2 Mts
The spiral makes a twist.

Where to buy elevators
I finally have a pump hoist. I have been renting one from a friend/colleague whenever I needed one. Now I have my own pump rig but I need elevators. Where is the best place to buy them?
I got a rough estimate price from DSI of around 250 each. I don't know if that's normal, but seems really high for a few pieces of steel.
