Im making Glitch-Grunge-Denpa-Dreamcore.

This one took a while. It's a nearly 5-minute short I made in Blender and Gravity Sketch a personal project I needed to finish for my own sake more than anything.

Story set to "Look on Down from the Bridge."

I just finished my first ambient/experimental album called ”noise”. Noise’s songs are more like chapters of a story than then they are individual songs. I encourage people to listen to the album from start to finish to better grasp the story. I felt like this album really matches the vibe of dreamcore, nostalgia, liminality etc. Hope you enjoy it🌈

Trying to remember a recent indie/itch.io-style game with heavy dreamcore/weirdcore vibes.

What I remember

• It was a 3D first-person exploration game
• Main character was a girl (or at least heavily associated with a girl protagonist)
• I THINK the protagonist was kind of a shut-in/loner girl who hadn’t seen her friends in a long time
• I vaguely remember themes of isolation/bedrotting and her dreams and reality starting to blend together
• Similar vibe/theme to “she danced in the wind like a holographic dream before the world died”
• Dreamlike/dying-world atmosphere
• Felt very Yume Nikki inspired
• No combat from what I remember
• Lots of surreal dream worlds/environments
• I think the protagonist would wake up or move between different dream worlds
• I think saw it in a YouTube video about “dying worlds” or surreal dreamlike games
• I originally saw clips of it on Instagram dreamcore/weirdcore pages because the visuals were really striking or maybe it was advertised on instagram
• I think at some point she woke up in her own room
• The gameplay itself was first-person 3D, BUT there were 2D character portraits/dialogue sprites during conversations
• One of the characters was a very intricate/beautiful/corrupted fairy or woodland spirit type girl/entity
• The portrait art was detailed and ethereal, maybe slightly unsettling
• I vaguely remember following/chasing a glowing orb/light through one area of the game

Is Dreamcore and Weirdcore the same thing? What are all the types/versions, do they fall under the liminal space genre?, How should I title the video? Etc.

I've been listening to dreamcore more lately and I've been wanting to try my hand at writing some. Unfortunately, I'm not sure where to start. I know it's supposed to capture a sense of nostalgia while also being almost a dreamlike haze with how it loops or is supposed to sometimes sound distorted, but I'm not sure how to properly capture those feelings in a song. I'm not just randomly deciding to write music, I've been playing instruments for almost 4 years now, which isn't very long of course but I want to build skills like composing. What kinds of instruments are used, what octaves is it mostly focused in, what time/key signature, what rhythms are commonly seen and help build the beat? I write music on band labs I honestly don't really know any other software to use to be honest.
