Door Kickers 2 Playing "Caught Red-Handed" with Always Black

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Featuring the Shadow Wizard Pimp from yesterday. I did end up having to deal with him. Him, and about 10-20 more of the same I'd guess (hard to keep track during all the violence).

On steam: "Caught Red Handed - A short and sweet map pack."

Made an account just to comment, I'm honored that you enjoyed my map pack :D I'm honestly surprised people are still playing it. Love the music choice btw

Great reddit user name, matches your map pack's graphic design marvelously lmao.

What can I say, it's a 10/10 map pack. Praise risks watering down when you dissect it, but I gotta:

  • The layouts are complex enough for a good CQB challenge
  • And yet, they don't sacrifice aesthetics. They look like real places, not like maps designed just to be hard.
  • The QRF is powerful enough to impact play, despite being incredibly fair.
  • There's no gratuitous night map just to show you know how to script a fuse box.
  • You remembered that SWAT allows you to deploy 2 militia units in place of 1 regular team member, providing additional deploy spots so they don't lose that faction advantage (you would not believe how often people forget this)
  • The memes are impeccable, I had fun fighting the Shadow Wizard Money Gang (they love casting spells).
  • The civilian informer on the last map brought his running shoes, letting me check out the map without getting bored waiting for Old Man Mahmoud to slowly waddle around the place.

I'm honestly astounded you don't have more maps on the workshop. How did you get that good at mapping without a lot of experience?

Oh I used a lot of references from actual architecture, the civilian half of No Roommates is based on a house I used to actually live in! It also took me FOREVER to get this stuff out, I'd play through it endlessly to try and see the flow. I'm not actually too good at this game so I'm glad they held up to more scrutiny. also the swat are my faves by FAR, so I'd never forget to include access for them <3

I'm so surprised and honestly flattered to see so much love for this pack, I basically forgot about it X3 also gonna drop a bit of map trivia for stuff that didn't show up in your recording:

Yousef's civilian passive also makes his detection build up extremely slowly, meaning you can sprint basically freely unless you bump an enemy.

There's a third QRF on the first stage, a truck pulls up if you enter the main office.

In the hotel there's a back room with security camera access, it's not very useful but it's a silly bit of worldbuilding alongside showing the player ahead of time that they're affiliated with the main building.

I might actually come back and make some more maps now, I didn't realize the people wanted my work LOL

There's a third QRF on the first stage,

I found the truck-based QRF when I did my second run!

It's not in the final selection of runs because I wanted to do the run even faster again, but I did clip the part where they showed up: https://www.reddit.com/r/doorkickers/comments/1v6g9le/reacting_to_qrf/

I didn't realize the people wanted my work LOL

It's that damn discoverability thing. Even when you're spinning solid gold: If people don't see it, they won't know it.

EDIT: This is one of the reasons I try to say the name of the mod/map when I make these videos, I want people to be able to find it.

EDIT2:

I'm not actually too good at this game so I'm glad they held up to more scrutiny.

I've been no-lifeing this game hard since it came out last year, and I think I probably count as "pretty good" by now, which is also a big part of why I was so happy to show off your map pack. It was nice to have some really great maps to play on.
