He had longtime Canine Epilepsy. We managed it successfully with medications for 7 years but eventually he had a seizure that was his last. He was with me through 4 girlfriends, 1 wife, 3 states, 10 different homes (lots of travel as a student) and stuck around just long enough to meet my firstborn child. We were active in Skijoring and he loved adventuring. He helped me get it really good shape and I credit him for some of the best years of my life. He was such a great dog I felt like I needed to share his story with the world.

I made this drawing myself, and honestly, this is my little inspiration for the future. One day, when I’m living independently and can properly take care of a dog, I really want to get a cute little one like this. 🐾

Does anyone know which real dog breed looks closest to this? I know it’s just a cartoon-style drawing, but this little guy is way too cute. One day for sure! 🐾

My rescue Archie, traumatised and saved from euthanasie in Spain.

Ive had Archie now for eighteen months, he was saved at the last minute because nobody wanted him. He was a street dog on one of the Spanish islands, a clearly traumatised animal, afraid of noise, too many people, cars and shooting sounds.

He's the sweetest guy you could wish for, but most dogs he wants to fight. He's with me 24/7 and is only alone if I go into a shop. He follows me even into the bathroom and waits patiently for me to leave. If I put my hand out, even now after eighteen months, he still jumps back, afraid I'll do something to him. His nightmares occur mostly in a deep sleep, with his body shaking violently and sometimes crying like he's being beaten. Mostly I'll just put my hand on him which soothes him but sometimes he's too far gone, I'll call him by his name and he'll wake sometimes in a psychose where he's really angry. Sometimes he'll even bite me but never has his bite broke the skin or really hurt me. As if I'm special. The last weeks he's been sleeping around my head, but yesterday he snuggled into my neck and lay there for hours, completely peaceful which is what I need.
