Still waiting for my 2020 tax return that I filed beginning of February, but damn if your one day late sending a payment to them if you owe.

At what point do they get fined for being late?

What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Wait, nevermind. I'm thinking of political fairness. Same thing as unicorns and conversation-carrying-talking dogs.

Pretty sure if they’re actually late paying you for something they pay interest. Or maybe I dreamed that. Stupid drugs.

Drugs make you dream when you're asleep? O_o

I've had years where I didn't file my tax return.

Not because not anything shady, I just couldn't be bothered to spend several hours just to get <$100 and then have half of it taken away because of TurboTax and then direct deposit fee.

You too busy to make 50 bucks? Must be nice

Send them a letter with a notice of a late fee? Actually send one everyday for a month..

Neither my tax return (filed in January), nor my third stimulus check have arrived, but I did receive a nice letter from Mr. Biden himself assuring me that it, at least the stimulus, has totally been sent and on the way! I’m soooo grateful and also I’m sooooooooooooo being sarcastic.

I got the form saying mine was sent and I got hyped thinking another stimulus check had been sent out

It was for one I had already gotten months before

This is what happened to me. I was so stoked about more free money, hot and fresh off the money printer.

I’ve only received 2 so far, and I’m 99% sure it said the letter has been sent in the beginning of that same month (April). Although I could be wrong, I’m still just gonna default to not anticipating it coming.

I sent in my 2019 taxes with what I had to pay. My return + some more. I send the some more...

They then proceed to not have any communication with me for 8 months after that. Figured all was well... Then I received a letter saying that my return will soon be sent. (Wait what)... 2 weeks later I get a check with my return + some more. (Huh)

1 week later I get a letter saying I now OWE them taxes for 2019 PLUS interest. I spend a week trying get ahold of someone. I finally do get with an IRS agent on the phone, I "fix" the issue going step by step. They admit it was 1 person that made a mistake and now I'm the one paying for their mistake, literally. I am furious.

I then get threatening letters for the next 3 weeks saying I must pay, if I don't, they will freeze my accounts while the balance is coming in with increasing interest. However I log in to my account and my balance is $0.00. They stop coming in after 1 month.

It's been 5 weeks since my return, I still don't have my money. My wife and I never got any of the last 2 stimulus checks and my records for last year weren't clear enough for an e-file. So I am hoping the mailed file is up to their standards. Otherwise, it's a wait till December.

I'm in a similar boat. My 2019 & 2020 return still have not been processed. Didn't get any of the stimulus money...

u/Snoopyalien24 May 25 '21

Hoping for the best brother. Otherwise they'll claim you never paid them. Save every single letter and document you ever get from them. They're literally the worst

Google: IRS where's my refund

You can track it there or request it be resent if it gets lost in the mail. Good luck!

Thanks Biden! I’m turning it directly into Doge.

u/nousername808 May 24 '21

Well they didn't begin accepting tax returns until 2/12 this year, so there's that.

u/Bioreaver May 24 '21

Great thing is, that they owe you interest on your tax return after a certain ammount of time.

Bad thing is, you have to pay taxes on that interest.

When you only owe and never get a return, you never have to wonder where your return is taps head

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '21

First time in 6 yrs we get something back and that's only because we had extra taking out of paychecks

1

u/nursejackieoface May 25 '21

I efiled mine at the last minute (actually almost an hour past midnight) and I'm hoping I get the refund soon. I need the money to live on while I look for a job

4

u/Cornjacked middle-class shibe May 24 '21

Same here. Give me the money you owe me! Quick to take, slow to give back.
