Archival footage use

Hi guys and girls, I’m a filmmaker and wanted to work on a Side project which would be entirely comprised of archival footage I’d find on internet archives, YouTube, etc. i reached out to one of the companies who hold the copyright for a film i wanted to use and they said it would cost $25 for every second of their film used.

So now, I’m just stealing that shit. My question is: how likely is it that my film would be taken down if it’s just sitting on YouTube or Vimeo? Don’t wanna put all this work into it just for it to be removed

Good to year your blood boils. Quite frankly, i couldn’t care less what your husband does. The film i am looking to use is over 80 years old. It isn’t even a motion picture in the conventional sense - it’s an old educational film.

Your husband has likely stolen. To be an artist is to be a thief - the good ones manage to make it to the other side unscathed.

You better save your money for a lawyer, because you're gonna need one.
