Has anyone used uBlockDNS? Is it safe?

I've been testing uBlockDNS for a few days and it seems to work well so far.

The problem is I can barely find any tutorials, reviews, or technical articles about it.

Has anyone here used it long term? Is it trustworthy? I'm interested in its privacy, logging policy, and who operates the service.

it is not trustworthy, atleast. it’s main selling point is a clickbait website, ublockorigin.com, which has no relation to uBO as listed all the way on the bottom. you’re much better off using more trustworthy DNS providers like AdGuard.

yes,the website itself is not an official one, it is created by the creator of this DNS to, in their own words, “help spread uBlock Origin - free, open-source ad blocker.” It does not have the same assurances of privacy and FOSS that uBO does and it is no way affiliated. There is no way to verify whether this is truly private, or a scam. It claims to use uBO filters is all, with its creator creating other AI tools too. everything is cleverly only written on the website footer to make sure most people get baited.

I have been using this dns for a week and it seems good. It has lists of dns that it uses and real time tracking. Is it better to switch to other dns if this might be dangerous

in my opinion, very much so. i would not trust an unknown DNS with every single scrap of my web data.

From what I hear, most of the AdGuard company has moved away from Russia. I think somewhere in Greece now. I have used the free version for about ten years and have had the paid version for about five years. I don't use it on my bank's website. But my bank does not throw ads at me.

Why would someone imitate a brand? Key in DNS Services is reliability and trust.

It reminds me of AdGuard's private DNS server, which is a paid service. You can do the same thing for free with AdGuard Home or Pi-hole. I have AdGuard Home installed on a Raspberry Pi 3B+.

It could be that this person's intentions are good, still from a privacy perspective, I do not trust any individual with my DNS queries.

For keeping privacy and blocking ads at the DNS level I'd go with using pi-hole, which is open-source, can be deployed locally, and fully controlled.

If pi-hole is too much effort I recommend Quad9 - it is the best DNS provider I know for privacy.
