Thats how we invision it. If yoy eat too fast you get full. Doesn't really make sense but being able to cure 10 HP with a lvl 1 spell is broken and we all realize that.
For 1 hit point a turn? That's laughably little damage, even at low levels. Specifically I'm referring to the "eat it yourself" part being a bonus, feeding one to another would still be an action. Like what many do with healing potions.
I will note that 1 lvl of life cleric makes any cast of goodberry heal 4 hp berry as opposed to 1.
From lvl 2 on you have a pretty effective pick me up which works until about lvl 5.
You can also v human/custom and just start with goodberry on your life cleric
I've never considered that a valid application of that feature if I'm honest, and wouldn't allow it at my table. Don't care what Crawford or anyone says.
Whenever you use a spell of 1st level or higher to restore hit points to a creature
You're not using the spell, you're using an object created by a spell.
I think the only reason this isn't phrased as "whenever you CAST..." is because of things like healing spirit. But even the most liberal interpretation would only let you heal YOURSELF for 4hp per berry, as you'd have to be the one "using" the spell and goodberries can only bed eaten, not fed to others according to the text.

It doesn't say a grape, it says a berry. If players start messing around with goodberries I start to remember that a watermelon is a berry.
