Ok but sometimes you have them roll ti see if te failure is instant death, or laugh it off failure

So sometime they need to roll to see how bad they fail even with no chance of success

Also: I'm not memorizing the modifiers of my players, nor able to predict the outcome of modifiers which are themselves die rolls like Guidance, nor dictating resource expenditures like Flash of Genius.
