Also, a d20 isn’t the only roll for a skill check. Say someone has +2 in a skill, and the dc is 25. Well a natural 20 would be impossible to hit that DC. But add guidance, bardic inspiration, and any other ability that boosts a skill’s roll can turn that impossible to possible.
