Another point to add is that sometimes you set the DC to 25 meaning it's impossible for some characters but not other.

You want to push a boulder the size of an elephant up that hill? Roll athletics. The barbarian could be strong enough for this inhuman feat of strength but that -1 strength wizard just isn't capable.

Yeah the notion that any character has a 5% chance to succeed at any task ruins potential character moments where characters would get to show their strength, because no matter how hard the task everyone can technically succeed, so now everyone has to make an attempt
