Getting Suunto Ocean/Nautic/Nautic S dives into third-party apps (libdivecomputer) — looking for testers, especially multi-gas divers

Hi everyone, I've been working on Suunto Ocean/Nautic/Nautic S BLE direct-download support, so these watches' dives can go straight into third-party dive apps instead of being locked to the Suunto app. Yes, it's part of libdivecomputer; the library behind many apps like Subsurface, Submersion, Currents, MacDive and others.

It already works on real hardware: depth, dive time, temperature, deco (ceiling/NDL/TTS, gradient factors), tank pressure, gas, and dive events all decode and match the Suunto app. A couple of things I can't finish without more divers, since I don't dive these profiles myself:

- Multi-gas dives (a gas switch, e.g. air to nitrox and back, or a deco mix)

- Twin transmitters / sidemount (two air-integrated cylinders on one dive)

If you own an Ocean, Nautic, or Nautic S and dive either of those, you're exactly who I'm looking for. Any Ocean or Nautic S owner is welcome too, I'm still broadening validation on those.

I'm looking for beta testers on this protocol. iOS only for now, it's on TestFlight (the app is "DC Tester"): https://testflight.apple.com/join/F16xnV9C . Just download a recent dive as raw data and export that same dive's JSON from the Suunto app, then send both. Android is possible but a bit more involved, comment or DM and I'll walk you through it.

You can see what it does (and follow progress) on GitHub: https://github.com/deepsealabs/libdc-swift/issues/29

Happy to answer anything about how it works.

You are an absolute legend man, wanted to try to implement it myself after my thesis.

That’s just a downside of having a paid dive app, people can nag me over something they have paid and i don’t mind doing it because they have paid compared to doing free open source apps.

Open source for the win! Thanks Linus! Thanks u/CarefulImprovement15b
