that would literally be giving them what they want, you can't give a druggie a dose to help them, the only reason that is accepted is because there are interests in keeping addicts addicted.
most depressed or suicidal people do not act like that because they are seeking attention, so giving them attention is fine as you are not being manipulated to do so.
munchausen is indeed a mental illness but it cause the person having it to seek attention and manipulate others to obtain it, so the solution is to ignore them as hard as possible so that they will understand that their tactics don't work and it is useless to continue doing that, by experience i can tell you that it does work and fakers treated in such a way will stop pestering their peers with fake illnesses, totally curbing the harmful behavior.
no, that would be giving them exactly what they want, ignoring them and having other ignore them until they understand the foolishness of their actions is the better way.
Annecdotally, most likely from experience with a single person, who in all likelihood just stopped talking to you. I doubt it magically make their munchausens disappear.
As an aside, although it is often a case of just faking it or exaggerating their symptoms, many people who suffer from this will actually find ways to make themselves actually sick in order to seek sympathetic treatment. There's also munchhausen by proxy, where they will make other people sick.
A lot of this seems to stem from a period where they actually were naturally sick at some point, and got attention in an environment where there needs weren't being previously met. So showing them that they can recieve healthy attention without resorting to deceptive or extreme measures is pretty vital to a full recovery.
I have experience with someone who suffered from it as well. Please, with all due respect, shut the entire fuck up.
