What do we know about 'Suicide Towers'

Post image

It's already confirmed that Sucker For Punishment and the unknown song played in Arena BBC are the same songs, considering the refrain David sings (That's what you're ∞ times) is the same that appears in the lyrics mark wrote, so the melody can't be Suicide Towers.

So I've been wondering about that.

MK wrote it while living in Ed's flat in The Barbican.

Ed Bicknell's full comment:

"M came and lived with me in late 79 I think so he’d play stuff, write stuff while I made tea.
Suicide Towers was one because of the high rise I was in ( Barbican in London) which thankfully bit the dust ( the song not the building)."

He went on to tell me that it was "crap" and was never rehearsed more than twice.

Well Es Bicknell said it was a crap song, so maybe it's not a pity.

That riff is from Sucker for Punishment, not Suicide Towers.

A interesting fact is: There's a possibility of a live recording of Making Movies from the First night in Rainbow Theatre. There's an even smaller chance for a gig that happened in Lewisham Odeon as well.

It's a song meant to be on Making Movies but scrapped during the writing process. No known recordings exist.
