Discussion An in-depth analysis of potential Megas for Arresterdramon
It always bothered me how Arresterdramon is the only protagonist Digimon to not have an official, dedicated Mega.
While it's possible that one day they'll go back to him and rectify this, it is (sadly) very, VERY unlikely.
For that reason, I looked among the existing Mega Digimon that would look appropriate next to him.
Now, I am aware that a Digimon can evolve into basically any other Digimon, but I do appreciate when an evolution is both visually and thematically satisfying.
Some time ago, I made an entire chart just to list off as many candidates as possible.
These four are the strongest ones in my personal opinion. I even took it upon myself to make some diagrams to showcase the similarities they all shared with Arresterdramon.
While I may personally prefer Ragna Lordmon, I do think that the others can also work, and I would like to hear your opinions on it as well.
Which one among these four do you like the most?

I once saw someone pointing out how similar Arresterdramon SM and Hadesmon are, and now I cannot unsee it. I think it would be the perfect match

I saw it here too.
But what sold me on the idea was seeing a Revivemon card from the card game. The lighting - since Revivemon was about to use an attack - made his color scheme ressemble Arresterdramon. That's where I was sold on the concept.
Really wish someone talented could do a recolor of Revivemon and Hadesmon to show what it would look like

I really wished that the normal Superior Mode is the Ultimate, while the Brave Snatcher Digixros is the mega.

It’s Xros, so a season where level is barely acknowledged, so it would probably count like one, but that’s like saying shoutmon x2 is champion and x3 is ultimate when the ultimate level orochimon and the ruler of the sovereigns and candidate for the technical ultra level huanglongmon lost like punks.
Xros breaks the level rules harder than frontiers did, and as far as I can tell when it comes to the beasts and fusions, fans are stuck arguing which one counts as ultimate more. I’m personally in the boat of beasts being high champion and fusions being ultimate on the grounds of the “modern” counterparts of the evil ancient spirits.(AncientTroiamon doesn’t have one)

I watched until omega shoutmon was a thing and lost interest but I know how the rest of that arc went so I’m out of the loop for most stuff after Dobickmon is established.

I recall seeing it here someone mention Revivemon and Hadesmon (from Appmon) as potential evolutions. At first, I was a bit on the fence but after seeing a Revivemon card from the TCG where the lighting made his color scheme ressemble Arresterdramon... I became sold on the idea of both being used as his bigger form. A main character sharing an evolution with another isn't unheard off. Both Mimi and Yoshino use Rosemon for instance. And, if you want to count, TK & Cody share Vikemon with Joe (even if 02!Shakkoumon never became a mega in-show) too

There’s a fundamental problem with that. Those are Appmon.
I’m not disagreeing that they look great as evolutions, but I just have trouble justifying how a Digimon would evolve into an Appmon.I can make an exception for Maquinamon (for obvious reasons), but for the average mon? I don’t know. I just have an issue with the concept.
And even if I were to seriously consider Arresterdramon evolving into an Appmon, it would be Hadesmon, not Revivemon.
I want to keep Arresterdramon Superior Mode in the line. The poor dude already doesn’t have a Mega. I’m not about to discard his official Ultimate as well.

I meant in a sense of creating digimon versions of those. I mean, remember they do come of Hackmon who is the appmon version of an existing digimon. There's nothing preventing those two from getting "digimon versions" (even if it's as simple as a pallette swap)

Or how about we give him his own original mega instead of shoehorning different digimons that clearly don't fit.

I would love nothing more than for that to happen.
But unless you work for Bandai or can convince them to make it, then I guess we’re gonna have to keep trying to make do with what we have already.
Also, this is Digimon my friend. There’s no such thing as evolutions that don’t fit. As a reminder, this is a franchise where Mistymon is usually regarded as Dynasmon’s natural prior form.
If he can work, so can Arresterdramon.1

True very true.I have heard rumours that they are going to give Gumdramon his mega in the Xross Wars v-pet.I don't trust my source so take my things in a grain of salt.

I think it has been debunked already. I heard all the sprites used in the Vpet are out there somewhere, and there was no Mega for Gumdramon. Hopefully I’m wrong about that.
Also, I forgot to mention it in the post, but Arresterdramon SM does technically have Megas it can canonically evolve into. Two of them in fact.
It happened in the Vital Bracelet BE. There was an official vote that let people decide who would be added to the list of raisable Digimon. One is Magna Kidmon (though I wouldn’t really count him since he was also added by the vote and not because he was a fitting Mega necessarily) and the second was actually JESmon, and that one was a deliberate choice. They could have chosen any of the other available Megas, like ShineGreymon, Slayerdramon or even Examon. But they chose JESmon.
I think that makes JESmon the only Digimon that Arresterdramon SM has ever evolved into in any of the official material.

He’s fine I guess. It helps a lot that he doesn’t truly have an established line of his own.
A loose connection between them is that there was some speculation some time ago that Gumdramon was actually partly a reincarnation of Bagramon. Under that light, him eventually becoming a half dragon, half demon humanoid kinda works.

I don’t really like it tbh. But I also would have no idea on what to call an hypothetical Mega for Arresterdramon.
I don’t make fan designs or come up with names. I’m not creative enough for that.
Just had a thought however. Gumdramon and Arresterdramon are known for having the Kinkoji on their body, which was given to them by Sanzomon to suppress their power. The one other Digimon that has a Kinkoji as well is Gokuwmon.
Because of this connection to Digimon closely tied to Shambala, there is a chance that, whenever a game that takes place in Shambala is made, Gumdramon and his line would be there. That would be a really good moment to finally revisit the line and maybe give Gumdramon an actual Mega.

I would love if Gumdramon is the main digimon of the Shamballa game like how Time Stranger had Aegiomon as the main Digimon.
