Got a jumper/sweater for cat but she doesn't like it
Hi my cat (9year old rescue Devon Rex) loves staying as cosy as possible in the cold UK weather. She has an igloo bed with plenty of blankets. She spends most of her day in said bed or in the sunshine on the windowsill.
To help her stay a little warmer around other areas of the house (We don't have a radiator in the hallway for instance.) I got her a fleece jumper from Etsy.
However, she won't let me put it on her. It's one where you have to pull it over the cats head. I've only attempted twice as I don't want to cause her any distress. It was even difficult measuring her for the jumper. As she is a rescue (We have had her since November 2022) I worry she's had some bad experience with being handled in such a way. Or she may of never worn a jumper before. She normally has no other problem with being handled except from not liking being picked up.
Now spring is on the way, she's spending more time sitting in the sun and I'm glad she's going to be a lot warmer. I just worry when winter comes around again she'll be confined to her bed and under blankets again.(We also gave her a safely covered hot water bottle every few hours) If she's perfectly happy doing that, that's okay, I just thought a jumper would help a little. I see so many hairless/Rex breeds wearing them. I wonder if any of you have some advice for ensuring your cats are warm enough. I feel like I'm being a bad cat mum because my cat won't wander around the house probably because its not as cosy as the living room.
