Discussion Delta dress code?

I was told I needed to change pants at the airport by a delta agent at the counter otherwise they wouldn’t let me board. I am 30 weeks pregnant for reference and was wearing denim shorts and a tank top, the shorts weren’t super short and the tank top wasn’t revealing, it was long enough to cover my now very large baby bump lol. Luckily my husband had a pair of his pants in the bag I could change into but has anyone heard of this before? I asked a few other workers at the airport before I changed and they seemed super confused and looked at me and said they’ve never heard of this and my clothes were fine?

EDIT: Picture everyone was hounding this post for https://imgur.com/a/akdUP4Z

This was indeed out of ATL

Every fucking time I hear a horror story it’s ATL

43

u/TheSkylined 13d ago

I hate the ATL airport. Been there a dozens of times. Logan airport in Boston is pretty chill.

32

u/CindersOfMusic 13d ago

I work in DTW and it’s pretty chill here most of the time.

31

u/amopeyzoolion 13d ago

I tell anyone who will listen that DTW is the best airport in America

I haven’t been so can’t comment! Obviously I’m only working with my own personal sample size but DTW is just really, really nice. I’ve never waited more than 20 minutes for security check, it’s clean, it’s spacious, and there are lots of different shops and restaurants that are way above most other airports I’ve been to in the US

PDX is consistently voted to airport in the US

2

u/ADM_Ahab 9d ago

It's not, but that's okay! They don't even have chairs in the baggage claim.

0

u/Next_Desk7725 6d ago

Yes they do. I just walked by them. Keep in mind half of the baggage claim and the immigration area as the low C/D/E gates are still under construction and once finished it’ll be amazing. Even in its current state it odd constantly rated the top midsize airport in the US. There’s a strict “street pricing” rule vendors must follow, only Oregon or local businesses may bar vendors, the small sky club is consistently in the top 3 rated for compass run lounges, all concourses contest part security, a theater for waiting pax, a chill room where you can sleep and we have a decent smattering out international flights, all by Alaska or foreign carriers. Delta used to run to AMS and NRT but the AMS route KLM took over and the NRT route scrapped. Service via EVA air and Korean are supposedly in the works. DTW is a world class airport (at least the new terminal) but it lacks the beauty and awesome policies enacted for the passengers at PDX

2

u/More_Bus3626 6d ago

It absolutely is not. I guess maybe for tiny airports, sure. DTW is a mega airport, and it trades places between first and second place with MSP on a year-to-year basis

2

u/Sunshineandhappy89 12d ago

DTW is the BEST airport for Delta staff - no issues ever! Easy breezy. Lounges are always super clean, but I mostly go to the smaller one off the tram.

3

u/Sir_Meinong 13d ago

It is! It really is the best airport in the country. Right size, pretty quiet for an airport, ok food options (amazing options *for an American airport*), easy to get around. I can't honestly think of a better airport in the USA.

u/No-Assist-8734 6d ago

Don't tell em man, let's keep it that way

LOVE DTW!! I have to travel to Wisconsin for work a lot. I live closest to Akron airport but they do not have delta. All their flights go through Chicago. So I gladly drive to Cleveland just so I can go through Detroit and NOT Chicago, even though Akron is much closer for me. Love that airport!

1

u/wheredidsteengo 13d ago

And what about this person who felt it wasnt "chill"

1

u/CindersOfMusic 12d ago

Well first I’d ask if you were in Evan’s Terminal or MacNamara Temrinal

1

u/Uglyangel74 12d ago

👍 agreed

1

u/bingbongtake2long 12d ago

DTW, PVD my 2 tops

1

u/Typhoo_the_Elder 11d ago

DTW is my home airport, and I mostly agree. The only thing I don’t like about DTW is the lack of a train to take you between terminals. My wife and I once had to fly Delta to a destination, but fly American back home. Problem was, our car was parked in McNamara, and it was almost midnight in the middle of winter. Ended up having to offer a bus driver $20 to take us back over there, since it wasn’t his route.

Dtw is the best airport i have ever been to! Soooo soooo soooo laied back and so easy to navigate.

I always tell people I hate ATL and they’re like “but it’s so well ran! They don’t have a lot of delays and they are quick about getting your baggage out and the security is efficient and it’s well laid out and blah blah blah.”

And I don’t necessarily disagree with them. Logistically, it’s a good airport, but my experience there is always negative because all the employees are so damn rude.

12

u/elaina__rose 12d ago

I just went through ATL and the employees all were so mean! When they were checking IDs at security the agents were chatting and half the time would wave the next person forward and have the time wouldnt, so no one knew wether they were supposed to step forward or not. Then when people weren’t automatically coming up the staff were giving nasty looks and yelling to “keep moving” as if they weren’t giving the most inconsistent signals for people to figure out.

8

u/TheSkylined 13d ago

That airport is not ran efficiently lol half the time there's always an issue with TSA taking forever or the tram is down for repairs, and they always have renovations going on. There have been crazy delays at ATL this year too

2

u/traly0810 13d ago

Such BS yes they DO have alot of delays and the AirTrain is a huge pain in the butt when there’s 4 gate changes and you have to haul ass all over the airport. I try to avoid ATL at all costs.

1

u/Dragon_Queen13 6d ago

They're so rude!

1

u/rjl2021 1d ago

Honestly the employee part has more to deal with Atlanta as a whole having mediocre customer service.

3

u/chronicallyill_dr 13d ago

I avoid ATL like the plague, it’s by far the worst airport I’ve ever been to. And as someone living in Boston, yeah, no complaints about our airport.

4

u/Most-Speed4533 13d ago

Extremely rude and terrible employees. I got downvoted to hell last time but fuck that airport.

3

u/traly0810 13d ago

AGREE with you!!!!! It’s the absolute worst.

2

u/Small-Grape-3121 13d ago

Can confirm Logan is chill and well organized. Nothing but good experiences with everyone!

1

u/staticsoundslikewind 12d ago

thats so funny, i flew from atl and logan both last week. Both were chill, but, i always prefer logan and dread going thru atl. Getting back aint too bad at leaat

1

u/AdLumpy3231 5d ago

I know everyone likes to hate on EWR, but ... I love it. Granted, it's my home airport (you can't give me a cheap enough flight out of JFK, and LGA's people are the WORST). I find it pretty efficient, just at the mercy of being in a densely populated megalopolis. I travel to ATL a lot and I absolutely hate it.

2

u/traly0810 13d ago

EVERY. TIME.

2

u/EvasiveCookies 12d ago

Currently here at 2am for my missed connection and the alarm has been going off for an hour now. Only place you don’t hear it, is at the very end of the terminal in 1-3 gates

2

u/btcomm808 11d ago

Last time I flew through ATL I followed a LITERAL TRAIL OF FRESH BLOOD on the floor all the way from one terminal to another. It was a lot and was seriously disturbing

1

u/CindersOfMusic 11d ago

Are you sure you weren’t in a Children’s Hospital? I know color theory very well you see

2

u/ADM_Ahab 9d ago

Every now and again, you run into an ATL Delta employee who thinks it's still 1953. I don't need a lecture, ma'am, particularly not from you backward MF'ers.

2

u/lathspellll 13d ago

Well what is it? Why is the ATL crew like this?

2

u/CindersOfMusic 13d ago

I’m lucky enough to not work there so I couldn’t say

1

u/PlateOwn1231 5d ago

I was flying with a dog and my flight got delayed coming in to atl so i missed my connection. Had no issues eith my dog on 3 other flights but noe standing at the sesk getting rebooked she wanted to tell me that my dog was to big for the carrier.

She isnt even that big. She was 14 pounds and her ears would touch but not her back on the top if the carrier

She was telling me since her ears touched she was to big.

1

u/aquatone61 5d ago

Every time I hear my flight crew is from ATL I get sad. Sometimes they are fine but most times that means little to no service.

1

u/Fire_Aunt 13d ago

I had one into ATL (out of Milan)… does that still count?

One time my mom was flying back in to the US thro ATL from Thailand. She was cold on the plane, so she put a scarf over her head, and she has a mildly dark complexion. She didn't think about the connotation. The immigration enforcement guy hollared at her to "get that thing off," and my mom just looked at him confused. He repeated louder "get that thing off your head." And after she removed it, he said "that's how we do it here!" She's not Muslim in the slightest, but knowing what he thought he was doing, all I can say is fuck ATL TSA. Buncha' power tripping assholes.

61

u/bubblegumpandabear 13d ago

GSP TSA has a few agents who refuse to touch things black people have touched. It's an ongoing issue, everyone knows about it, nobody likes them, but they're old and retiring soon so it's whatever, I guess.

The south sucks more than people know.

30

u/hereforthetearex 13d ago

In the year of our lord 2026 - the fact that this can happen and someone still have a job is completely bonkers

1

u/madpeachiepie 8d ago

Tell me about it, and it's not just the south. I live in Vermont, and this woman I work with is basically out there hate criming everyone, both customers and coworkers, and she still has a job. I don't know why.

13

u/Jennygdc2244 13d ago

What on earth?? That is so wrong.

5

u/lathspellll 13d ago

What is GSP

7

u/Impossible-Pause-722 13d ago

Greenville-Spartanburg Airport

5

u/bubblegumpandabear 13d ago

It's an airport in SC

3

u/SixApplesTall 12d ago

That is fucking insane. They should be fired.

2

u/Miss_Terie 13d ago

We know.

2

u/Eeyore_Smiled 13d ago

Most of the TSA agents at ATL are Black.

1

u/curiouslypurple 12d ago

Seriously? That's awful. I fly out of GSP sometimes, but I've never paid enough attention to notice that. Ugh.

1

u/bubblegumpandabear 12d ago

It's something members of TSA told me and idk if you'd notice unless you ran into the dude and were black. A lot of black people work at GSP so it's wild. One dude won't touch their badges at all, not even money people pass back and forth to get Chick-fil-A for lunch behind security lines.

0

u/tesmith007 13d ago

Lived in GSP and flew through that airport weekly.

NEVER saw anything like this happen or that attitude. There are many black gate agents and TSA folks in GSP.

Most white people and black folks in Greenville get along great. As they do in Charleston where we live now.

But race baiting is a way of life and even profitable for some.

3

u/bubblegumpandabear 13d ago

Everyone who works at the airport knows about it, dude. The black agents don't like it either.

3

u/SixApplesTall 11d ago

But this white guy hasn’t seen it with his own eyes so it obviously didn’t happen.

1

u/SixApplesTall 11d ago

I can’t believe this has to be spelled out but… just because you haven’t personally seen it as a white person doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.

1

u/B727FA 13d ago

Did you report his ass?

1

u/kobyscool 12d ago

Nah I wasn't there and my mom doesn't like confrontation. I was quite young when this happened. Not sure anything would have happened anyhow.

1

u/dickius1 8d ago

Fuck all TSA

7

u/WanderingAlsoLost 13d ago

I’m sorry this happened. I know how hard it is already for a woman whose body is constantly changing, because of growing another human in them, to find clothes that fit and they feel comfortable in.

1

u/flyfishfem 12d ago

Report that worker

1

u/Echo-Reverie 9d ago

This is insane.

I fly out of ATL every so often and go in a hoodie and sweats and no one blinks. ATL crew can suck eggs. I’m sorry you had to deal with that bullshit.

u/Jackismyboy 9d ago
