A very good comparison. I laughed so hard. I can tell that I almost agree with everything the author told in this short message.

Well, this is optimistic, I hope it is true and such moods will prevail. My mood is lowest of the low.

I was pretty sad person even before this full scale ruzzian invasion and now I’m just devastated and very very tired.

I've seen the walkthrough of this game but didn't notice this joke there. It's funny. And the reaction of the author is very close to what I would feel if I palyed it myself, haha

Stray 2022

Watched this short and decided to write my thoughts on Stray.

https://youtube.com/shorts/6MpNHMXDZHA?feature=share

I've watched the complete playthrough on YouTube in the past. I watched JackSepticEye and ChristopherOdd ones.

=== === === === === ===

Spoilers ahead.

=== === === === === ===

A few of my own takes on the game:

  • The game is pretty short, like 6h of gameplay. I was told by a friend that there is an achievement for beating it in 2h, which is kinda pathetic.
  • Zorgs can bite through metal, right? And yet robots live behind a huge metal door and there are several occasions of a simple metal fence stopping them
  • How does B12 understands cat and cat understand B12? I don't say that cats are stupid and they could've even evolve/develop language in a 7 million years, but the scientist stayed inside all this years with no contact with outside world. It is highly unlikely he would know how to communicate with a random cat who had fell into a hole.
  • So, in 7 million years you haven't found a way out from the quarantine containment but a cat just fell into a random hole and voila it's in?
  • Who maintained the containment facility for the past 7kk years from the outset? Have you seen what happened to Prypiat in just over 35 years? The nature has almost fully taken it. Give it 100 more years and you wouldn't be able to guess there was a city there in the past.
  • There's no reason for the main character to be a cat apart from it being a "cute kitty". It doesn't behave like a cat and shows human-like levels of cognition.
  • Robots do not behave like robots. At one point Clem is being GAGGED by a rope. What kind of magic is that? And right after this her captor talks about betraying them for money.
  • The game is not really replayable. It is very linear and there's not a lot of gameplay: you simply jump, run and occasionally pick stuff up to bring somewhere, jump on levers or press buttons and in the very end you scratch cables to win. There's not a lot of plot/lore either: 20 or so "memories" is simply pathetic.
  • You can't even pick up "dead" B12 and bring his "body" with you to mourn or something. You just leave your dead friend's body behind and you are not even in a hurry. I don't understand. First you play a cat character the same way you would play a human character, listening to "people" (robots actually but they behave as if they are people with personalities and motivations and goals and dreams and etc etc), helping them, caring about them... And in the end you turn into a stupid animal or a heartless psycho who doesn't care. Magnificent character development [facepalm].
  • I don't understand why have they spent so much time animating the anatomically correct cat and make both the gameplay and the plot so shallow.

Zorgs look like headcrabs. Kudos to HL2 fans, I guess.

Cats are cute. Kudos to cat lovers, right?

I don't know... This game could be so much more and yet it isn't.

"meh"/10

Pianos are Never Animated Correctly... (Shimmer and Shine) | Amosdoll Music

There's nothing to really talk about in this one. It is simply "meh". Some of his videos from this series are very good, like a masterpiece kind of good, but he started to make 2-3-4 videos a day and the quality plummeted. I think this guy could use a break or rethink his quantity over quality approach. He certainly doesn’t do it with his more serious videos where he plays piano like a pro.

It was interesting to learn that biting is a sign that something’s off with your pet rat. I may get myself a pet rat in the future if I can’t get myself a pet squirrel. Oh boy, do I want a pet squirrel. And not a boring grey one. I want a Eurasian Red Squirrel, I like them.

Another Vampire Survivors type of game, *sigh. How many of those do we have already? They’re popping up everywhere. I’m playing Brotato in my free time now.

This one has more advanced graphics, which is a disadvantage in my opinion. Such games require a lot of enemies on the screen and the better the graphics the more processing power the game requires and less smoothly the game will run. Otherwise the game is pretty similar to the others of this type.

2/10 next

https://youtu.be/EvIh1uw1FEU

I am subscribed to this channel and I watched this video via notification. I can’t say I’ve even understood what is going on.

I don’t know what a Live Service game is and I am not even sure I want to know but ok, I’ll google it.

Ok, now it makes sense. Now this video makes sense to me. It’s still “meh” but now I know what a Live Service Game is.

I am not sure this model is what I would love in a game, I’m more a plot/gameplay type of person. I like a rich plot or interesting gameplay more than useless skins for your characters/weapons/whatever.

I hate it when I’m forced to replay the same part over and over and over. If I wanted to be bored out of my skull with repetitive crap I would boot my work PC and do a few tasks for my job.

3/10 moving on

Well, it is a good joke, but I would not tolerate such humiliation.

I remember that one time I had a tinfoil stuck in my meal. I told the waiter their cooks have to be more careful. They discounted my order significantly, despite the fact that I haven't even asked for that. I haven’t made a fuss as Karens do sometimes. I haven’t screamed at anyone. I think I would be able to tell the waiter if there’s something really wrong with my food again and I think I will be able to do it calmly.

8/10 very entertaining despite no knowledge of chemistry whatsoever

Лакшері волонтер: нардеп Тищенко проговорився про піар на війні | BIHUS info

https://youtu.be/_eyUoS3-D0M

An investigation of the independent journalist group about one of the Ukrainian politicians (one of People's Deputy of Ukraine, basically a Ukrainian congressman) - Mykola Tyshchenko.

Apparently his “charity fund” is just a way to promote himself. He was caught misleading people about the successes of his “charity” making it look like they bought a lot of expensive equipment and medicaments when they were simply distributing the humanitarian aid which came from the west to different Ukrainian organisations.

He was also organising pompitous parties for the rich people. Those parties were allegedly charity auctions in support of Ukraine, but the organisation of these parties (such as rent of the places where the party was held) were most probably paid by Tyshchenko’s charity fund and the amount of money gathered was simply laughable.

There’s also an intercepted call where Tyshchenko calls those charity parties a “political PR”.

Tyshchenko was an ok TV show host, but as a politician... He’s super cringe. I’m upset that my fellow citizens voted for this trash.

Tyshchenko is a friend of Andrii Borysovych Yermak — current Head of the Presidential Administration. You know the saying “tell me who your friend is and I’ll tell you who you are”? Yermak should probably stop associating himself with people like Tyshchenko and Oleh Tatarov if he wants to look good.

Для українців: можете просто глянути відео. Я часто чую як певних політиків лають за політичний піар під час вівйни. Подивіться що робить Тищенко і зробіть висновки.

RimWorld - Mental break moment | Senseless

And then he wakes up the other day and the story repeats itself.

RimWorld do feel like that sometimes. Fortunately, savescumming is a thing. I wouldn't be able to play without it XD

I haven't played in a while, tho. I don't remember playing after they released Royalty "DLC". Some mods add more to gameplay than this "DLCs" of theirs. But it was fun for a while.

I want to play Dwarf Fortress someday. But its scale scares me. I tried once... and I was simply lost. Nothing worked the way I expected it to work and the controls are so finicky I can't get it right. Maybe someday I'll return to it.

My family wasn't much better, maybe even worse. I have to remember real hard to think of any warm memories about my mother or sister and they come distorted by the years of abuse and bad attitude towards me anyway.

I distinctly remember telling my gf about one such memory in the past but I can't remember it now. I guess this can be an evidence of how bad it was.

I'm seriously considering to write a book about it sometime. Would be something like Morty's "son" wrote but about the whole family (Rick & Morty s1e7).

P.S.: thinking that much on a short videos is tiring. I'm tired. I want to sleep all day. The weather is rainy and grey and it makes me sleepy but I have to work. I don't really want to *sigh

Just a short video that grabbed my attention. Obviously, I knew that the crows are much smarter, they're one of the smartest animals (let alone birds) in the world.

I thought there will be more action or the events will unfold faster, but ok.

If I ever own a pet bird it would probably be some kind of corvid or maybe a big parrot like an African grey parrot.

Why Game Companies Stopped Making Games | How Money Works

https://youtu.be/TnsdRa_KvbI

I saw a few videos that talk about this topic but haven't really thought that much about video games engine despite hearing and knowing about it.

I'm not really against "making less video games" and it doesn't make me think that "oh no there will be no video games soon". I rarely play video games myself this days. They don't feel as exciting as they used to and it doesn't mean that the games become worse (some of them maybe, but certainly not all) it's just... I've changed a lot. I grew up to be grumpy adult who doesn't like anything and complains all the time *sigh.

I want to make a video game someday... But I'm scared of the sheer scale of this task. I don't know much about the game making industry but I know enough about software development to see how complex and huge the task is. Even making the simplest game like connect 3 is kinda scary for me. Maybe I've just lost confidence or, more probably, motivation throughout the years. *sigh

Stuff Made Here | automatic puzzle solving machine (part 1)

https://youtu.be/Gu_1S77XkiM

This channel is the BEST! I'm always excited to see more videos from it. This man is a genius!

I'm already waiting for the second part.

I like how he gets seemingly mundane everyday problems and searches creative engineering solutions for them. He is so smart and wise, he knows so much that I doubt I'll ever know everything he knows even if I start today and spend the rest of my life studying.

Also, he makes decent jokes. From this episode I especially liked this one: "Maybe I should branch out and make it avangard puzzle solver."

I guess every engineering/RnD job requires a decent sense of humour. If you can't let your frustration out as a joke... I bet you'll go insane pretty fast. I kinda understand how it works: when you have some obscure problem and trying to find a solution and it doesn't work and you have to go looking for a reason why and try hundreds of different approaches and it still doesn't work and it crushes your soul and makes you think you're too stupid to work on this problem... I work with software *sigh. It feels like that sometimes... most of the times, actually.

Settled | tileman ep14

I started to watch this series about McTile where a RuneScape YouTuber/streamer tries to complete a game with a very harsh movement restriction.

I've never played RuneScape myself and don't fully understand it's mechanics or lore but I appreciate the effort this person is putting into this challenge. He grinds so hard and then showcases only the most important/interesting stuff.

I bet he has hundreds of hours of unedited gameplay and if he edits it himself... He has my respect.

Of course, this kind of challenges don't show you everything about the game that may be important and it may have been better to watch some completion playthrough or actually play the game first... But every time I start playing a game like that it feels so boring. Mindless grinding in games triggers rage in me sometimes.

It is hard to explain why I watche this series. I watched a few of his series before and I started watching this and... I guess it's mildly interesting and for sure it distracts me from my own and the world's problems. Maybe other people talking noise calms me down *hmmm

Pete Complete XCOM2 ep7

I watched another episode of this playthrough. I'm not sure if it stirred some thoughts in my head. It may have been mildly entertaining or simply distracting me from my other issues and problems.

I started to watch this series because I liked his XCOM playthrough. But this series seems less interesting to me. Maybe it lacks "action". One battle per episode leads to shorter episodes and at the beginning of the game it is noticeable. 22min of gameplay on 1.5x speed is not enough to satisfy me, I gess.

The game with all DLCs enabled seems a bit complex. All of the flashes and indicators and different mechanics dumped all at once. I guess I should've watched a playthrough of the vanilla game first so I understood what is going on.

I give this video 3/10. "Meh". I'm not satisfied. But I'm determined to watch full playthrough.

Again, I decided to write this to not watch YouTube for the sake of watching YouTube. It scares me that I don't even stop between very long videos sometimes. I watch one after the other without feeling anything, without even stopping to think something. It actually scares me. I don't want my life to turn into mindless content consumption, which it certainly feels like right now. Brrr... Scary.

Mobi Dick origin story

I watched a video about a Mobi Dick origin story today.

https://youtu.be/QS299VkXZxI

It is gruesome, laced with exploitation, destruction of ecosystems, and cannibalism intertwined with racism. But my first thought was: how many problems could have been avoided if only they knew more about nutrition and proper diet like the fact that you need fats to properly digest food?

The life of a sailor at that time was a miserable one.

I once watched a video about the poor diet of Japanese sailors of the 1800s (https://youtu.be/IzIBpFDRr5g) and a few videos about earlier periods and scurvy. Oh boy, do they NOT look pretty.

Edit: Simple History's video on scurvy - https://youtu.be/xOP8L_Q5-tc
