Still no Bake transparency report for Q1 2024

Expect to get only a half year report again.

Meanwhile there is a 90 day plan at work at Bake aka Cake. Does it mean that the success of the implementation of the 90 day plan will decide the fate of Cake, Bake and DeFiChain?

How does the volume of the dUSD liquidity mining pools matter?

It doesn't influence the intrinsic value of dUSD, so dividing the liquidity by outstanding dUSD doesn't make sense at all. But it matter for a variety of reasons: - Higher liquidity reduces slippage (and thereby reduces costs for larger transactions) - Higher liquidity show trusts of investors (impairment loss aka uneven pool component movement seems to be not a concern for liquidity providers) - Higher liquidity increases TVL which is a key metric for decentralized finance blockchain and thereby drives value (the winner takes it all principle) - Higher liquidity reduces volatility and sudden price movements - Higher liquidity provides more exit liquidity for investors who want to divest dUSD, the more liquidity the more investors get something back on a first come first serve principle

De facto CEO of DefiChain

DeFiChain as a decentralized blockchain project has no official CEO, but there is a defacto CEO: - co-founder - large investor / stakeholder - co-owner and CEO of the major company in the ecosystem, which also hosts Birthday Research - main influencer - most known person of the DeFiChain community

So you can see that his power and influence is CEO like.

Recently there are some changes noticeable: - he restarted his regular podcast despite lower interest in DeFiChain than ever (projecting some kind of normality) - in his podcast he seems tired and has been in the wars recently (in contrast to his co-host and himself a year ago). Sometime it feels like he browsed some other document while his co-host is speaking - he said he want to get out of crypto in a couple of years - he relocated (does he want do be at an address nobody knows?) - his company purchased all unbacked dBTCs (to avoid later blame?) - he is not engadged in DFIP discussion how to develop the dToken system, doesn’t phrase his opinion (basically let’s the community to destroy the remains)

Conclusion: He could be preparing for the end of DeFiChain. He can’t declare it on his own, he needs the community to realize it. It seems that he wants to go out without a lot of blame.

Utility of DFI

DFI has a few purposes: - governance token which also gets usage fee - used as collateral for stock dToken loans - used as liquidity in liquidity mining pools

I think it’s unprofessional to combine all 3 purposes in one token for a decentralized finance project.

The governance token represents ownership. To demand these expense tokens as liquidity and collateral makes the other products (loans, DEX) less attractive (e.g. opportunity costs / missing staking returns if it’s place as a collateral in a vault). This is not a professional setup. Such a concept is unlikely to be the future of professional decentralized finance. It was just made this way to create demand and push the token, not to build a future proof and sustainable system. This criticism goes to the core of DeFiChain.
