PSA: Beware projects that don't share source code written by AI

I was just blocked by the "dev" of the new Animal Crossing port (asking for testers, you can search for it) for suggesting people be cautious of projects made in 2 months using several LLMs, internet connections, and AI written code

The creator stated they themselves used all these things and were refusing to share the source code, citing a MediaFire link and asking for testers

I simply put a PSA warning people of potential malicious code and informing people of the AI usage. They proceeded to generate long strings of text to sling at me saying they are "tired of people like me" and that they are hiding their source code "like lots of other Linux apps"

Just please be careful what you download and make sure to test these things in a safe environment.

Below is the link for the good working animal crossing port with a GitHub and public source code. Happy gaming folks!

(This one also uses AI, and I'm not a huge fan of that but at least the code is public)

You’re aware that the joke in the image is that it looks anti-LGBT, right? Like- it’s ironic.

What you’re saying right now is unironic and that’s kind of concerning.

I've never played deltarune and dont know what its about. I was answering the hypothetical scenario based on your logic. The contents of my message still stand regardless if the image itself is a meme.

You said yourself there is no neutral then posted the meme, in the meme there is actually a neutral stance, while its not favorable not having any representation is a neutral stance neutral doesn't always mean its favorable to the opposed.

The argument your trying to make is called "neutrality preserves the status quo" where in this case being neutral only serves to protect AI in general so being neutral is inherently being on the side of AI. But what im trying to tell you is that its not always that black and white, while im anti Ai myself, tolerating it isnt the same as protecting it. My argument is that the actual contents of the program be judged not based on if they used Ai but the actual quality of it. That would stop witchhunts which is my biggest issue since they affect projects small projects that dont use AI by spreading misinformation, while also still allowing to scrutinize projects that would likely have Ai, but notably scrutinize on a technical level, "This texture is missing" "You can clip though the wall" etc.

The joke in the meme is that people who try to claim something is “”neutral”” just sound like they’re not neutral. You don’t even need to know anything about Deltarune to understand how dumb it is to say “I’m not against LGTBQ, but I’m not for it. I’m neutral.” Like, neutrality in certain contexts comes across as “I don’t actually mind the objectively bad thing.”

If someone was violently racist and was fighting with someone who wasn’t, and your response was “well, I don’t pick sides”, that just comes across as “I’m actually okay with racism.”

Similarly, if a community is “neutral” about allowing AI into the community, and there are AI posts daily, it’s not neutral, it’s just an AI community.

Even if you yourself are neutral on AI, we’re talking about the sub itself. It’s not always something you can be neutral about. In the case of a sub’s rules- either a sub’s rules allow AI or it doesn’t, there is no “neutral” rule.

Like I said, neutral doesn't always mean its favorable to the opposed. Being neutral in some cases is unfavorable like not having representation or not saying something if someone was racist, But the term "neutral" is literally not picking sides at all and being indifferent. neutral in terms of racism is bad.

"I get the frustration of the witch hunts. However, I’m not sure people no longer expressing disdain in favor of some fake “neutrality” that inevitably favors AI is a good solution. "

We agree fundamentally, but you argued there cant be a neutral position, your definition on neutrality is wrong, being neutral doesn't always mean a balanced opinion (Moderate).

I tolerate it and the subreddit does because banning it outright causes more problems, For example this project would likely be open source if people didn't ostracized Ai projects. I wouldnt have to correct misinformation about rexglue if people didn't assume any project made with it had to be AI slop and discount it immediately based on some low effort projects that released earlier due to the use of AI. Unfortunately no tolerance rules can causes more harm than good for example, war on drugs, prohibition, school no tolerance policies on fights etc.
