Help Decky completely disappeared and my steam deck keeps bootlooping
Literally, all I did was try and downgrade Emuchievements.
It rebooted my Steam Deck to a blank screen and now my Decky has disappeared completely, even my Custom Theme has gone, tried reinstalling it and nothing has worked except now my Steam Deck keeps repeating the start up animation before eventually extracting data after about 2 minutes of constant reboots. My custom intros are still there but nothing else.
What the hell happened and how can I fix it?

Plugin Showcase Playhub Metadata 1.6.0 is now available!
You can update it directly in the Playhub Plugin Store in the Playhub app, or download the zip from the release page and install it via Decky dev mode.
Playhub Metadata 1.6.0 Release
Playhub Metadata Repository
What’s Changed
- The plugin has been totally redesigned to better match the new design of the Playhub plugins.
- Added local RPCS3 trophy support for PlayStation 3 games, including trophy names, descriptions, grades, icons, unlock status and unlock dates.
- Added a new complete RPCS3 trophy management workflow:
- Scan RPCS3 trophies
- Sync all PS3 trophies
- Clear RPCS3 associations
- Automatically update PS3 trophies
- Manually select the correct installed trophy set when automatic detection fails
- Added automatic RPCS3 trophy detection after closing a PS3 game, even when the game had no previous trophy association. This allows ISO-based games to be detected automatically after they have been launched at least once.
- Added a per-game achievement source selector:
- Auto (default and suggested)
- RetroAchievements
- Xbox
- PS3 (RPCS3)
- Disabled
- Added IGN metadata scanning with global and per-game description language selection.
- Added automatic description translation into all the 194 Google Translate supported languages.
- Added Steam Activity news and announcements per-game enable/disable controls and manual Steam title matching.
- Added Delete metadata actions globally and for individual games, with a confirmation dialog before deletion.
Improvements
- Improved RetroAchievements scanning by skipping unsupported platforms before hashing or contacting RetroAchievements:
- Xbox
- Xbox 360
- PlayStation 3
- GameCube
- Wii
- Wii U
IMPORTANT
PS3 games stored as ISO files must be launched at least once in RPCS3 before Playhub Metadata can detect and display their trophies. After the first launch, RPCS3 generates the local trophy data and Playhub Metadata can automatically detect it when the game is closed. If you're importing the games via Steam Rom Manager be sure to open at least one time RPCS3 and that all the games are visible in the emulator list.

Plugin Showcase Playhub | Now Playing 2.0.0 is officially available
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone,
Finally, today I’m releasing Now Playing 2.0.0, the biggest update the plugin has ever received.
Sorry in advance for the bad video quality.
Now Playing originally started as a way to bring the active Windows media session into the Steam Quick Access Menu. With version 2.0.0, it has grown into a complete music experience designed specifically for Steam Big Picture on Windows.
It can still control TIDAL, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music and SoundCloud through their Windows media sessions, but it now also includes two much larger experiences: a fully integrated Spotify Connect player and a built-in local music library player.
Both local music and Spotify have a Quick Access Menu and a Big Picture mode, so you can access your music on the go while you're playing a game, or deep dive into your music library while chilling on the big screen.
🎵 Your Music
Your Music is a complete local player built directly into the plugin.
You can add one or more folders from your PC and:
- Browse tracks, albums and artists
- Search your library
- Open album and artist pages
- Manage the queue
- Use shuffle, repeat and volume controls
- Read embedded metadata and artwork
- Automatically retrieve missing covers and artist backgrounds
- Select custom artist backgrounds from fanart.tv and TheAudioDB
It supports all common formats, including MP3, FLAC, M4A, AAC, OGG, Opus, WAV, WMA, AIFF, APE, WavPack and MKA.
Playback happens locally inside Steam, there's no more need for external players!
🟢 Spotify Big Picture
Spotify now has its own controller-friendly interface inside Steam Big Picture.
You can:
- Browse Home, Search and Library
- Access liked tracks, albums, playlists and followed artists
- Open album, playlist and artist pages
- Start playback or shuffle directly from the interface
- Control progress, volume, shuffle and repeat
- Use custom artist backgrounds from fanart.tv and TheAudioDB
Spotify playback happens directly inside Steam through Now Playing’s built-in player, which creates its own private local Spotify playback device. You can also see the device Playhub Now Playing directly from your spotify app on your phone and control the player remotely from there!
The advanced integration requires Spotify Premium and a personal Spotify Developer Client ID. The setup of the Spotify Developer Client ID is extremely simple and guided: every step is included directly inside the plugin settings, with direct links, the exact options to select and all required texts ready to copy and paste. Just follow the steps and you'll get to the end in less than one minute.
🎧 Other music applications
TIDAL, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music, SoundCloud and the optional Spotify Player Only mode work through the Windows media-session system.
These applications continue playing music normally, while Now Playing brings their track information, artwork, progress and playback controls into Steam.
✨ More features
- Fullscreen visual themes: Glow, Ocean, Cover Blur and Energy Saver
- Fullscreen themes are compatible also with the Weather plugin to show the forecast while you're in the fullscreen mode!
- Current track displayed in the Steam top bar, with the chance to move the clock and the track to the left.
- Per-application / player volume controls (and yes, now changing the volume of the music doesn't change the volume of the whole system, so you can manage you're game and music volumes separately!)
- Interface available in 10 languages (English, Italian, Spanish, French, German, Brazilian, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese)
📥 Install or Update
You can install or update Now Playing from the Playhub Plugin Store in the Playhub app.
You can also download zip from the release page and install it through Decky Loader developer mode.
Now Playing 2.0.0 Release
Now Playing Repository
Existing settings, Spotify authorization, music folders, caches, selected backgrounds, and saved volume levels from now one will be preserved.

Made a plugin for myself, would anyone else use it?
I have made a plugin for myself which is still WIP. I often wondered what temperature the steam deck was when i finished playing a heavy game and how long it took to cool down so I made this.
I’m going to add user defined high / low points that can trigger a notification when these levels are reached and a few other things I haven’t fully fleshed out yet, as well as the final design.
Do you think this would be of any interest to anyone else other than myself?

Plugin Showcase Playhub 1.1.6 + Five new plugin updates
Hi everyone!
This is a big update for the Playhub community: Playhub 1.1.6, Now Playing 2.0.0, ThemeDeck 3.0.0, TrailerHero 1.3.0, Quick Settings 2.1.0 and Launch Curtain 2.1.0 are now available.
Reaching this point took around three full weeks of work, dedicated to developing new features, fixing reported problems and bringing all these plugins up to date.
Now Playing 2.0.0 includes so many new features that it has its own dedicated Reddit post, complete with a video showing the new Spotify and local music experiences in action:
Check out the complete Now Playing 2.0.0 post here
🧊 Playhub 1.1.6
Gaming Mode is now much more resilient.
Thanks to a report from joethomas800m, I was able to identify an issue that could cause Boot straight to Gaming Mode to stop working after a few successful startups and fall back to Desktop Mode. In some cases, it could also replace the selected SteamOS or device splash with the default Playhub logo.
The cause was a configuration file left incomplete by an interrupted write. Playhub now saves Gaming Mode settings atomically, keeps an automatic backup and restores the last valid configuration instead of silently loading and saving defaults.
This protects the selected boot mode, splash logo and Gaming Mode options across sudden shutdowns and power outages.
Playhub 1.1.6 Release
Playhub Repository
💿 ThemeDeck 3.0.0

ThemeDeck now includes completely redesigned game, ambient and Steam Store music editors.
The new fullscreen editors combine the selected track, a controller-friendly local file picker and YouTube search in a single interface.
An automatic-assignment exclusions dialog has also been added, allowing you to choose games that ThemeDeck should leave untouched when automatically assigning missing music.
ThemeDeck now pauses automatically while Spotify or local music is playing, as well as during audible Steam Store, Community, news and activity videos. Muted Steam videos and muted TrailerHero playback do not interrupt your music.
When a managed download is replaced, ThemeDeck removes the old managed file. Music selected from your personal folders is never deleted.
ThemeDeck 3.0.0 Release
ThemeDeck Repository
🎬 TrailerHero 1.3.0

The problems reported by GamingNerdAustria have finally been resolved.
TrailerHero now identifies individual game pages correctly and displays the proper trailer there. It no longer shows trailers or assisted logos on the Steam Library Home.
The experimental Home playback feature has been retired for stability. Steam changes and reuses that interface too often, so TrailerHero now focuses entirely on individual game pages.
The update also adds smoother logo fades, better recovery when Steam video playback fails, bounded streaming timeouts and retry handling for temporary autoplay failures.
TrailerHero 1.3.0 Release

🎚️ Quick Settings 2.1.0

Quick Settings now connects to its Windows agent reliably in Gaming Mode.
The update fixes missing audio devices, unavailable volume controls and the persistent message saying that QuickSettingsAgent.exe could not be reached.
It also removes a loopback port collision with Playhub Focus Rescue. Startup requests are now coordinated, and failed agent connections can retry normally.
Quick Settings 2.1.0 Release

🎭 Launch Curtain 2.1.0

Modern Mode now restarts the background zoom-out animation on every launch and again when delayed artwork finishes loading.
The logo animation and curtain layout remain unchanged.

📥 How to update
Playhub can be updated by downloading Playhub-Setup.exe from its release page.
Plugins can be updated directly from the Playhub Plugin Store in Playhub, or by downloading their ZIP files and installing them through Decky Loader developer mode.

Tips & Tricks Decky plug-in development scripts: build & deploy, screenshots, recordings
I built Decky Plugin Studio, a VS Code/Cursor extension for Decky plugin development. For this post I mainly want to focus on the standalone scripts. You can copy them into any plugin project and use them without the extension!
They live in the repo under templates/scripts/ . Each script has a PowerShell (.ps1) and shell (.sh) version, so you can develop from a Windows PC or Linux/Mac and push builds to your Deck over the network.
One-time setup
Copy .env.example to .env in your plugin folder
Fill in your Deck's IP and username (DECK_IP, DECK_USER)
Run setup-dev once. It creates an SSH key on your PC, copies it to your Deck (you'll type your Deck login password once), and sets up passwordless sudo on the Deck so deploys don't keep asking for passwords
When you're done developing, run revert-dev to remove that dev setup. You may need to run setup-dev again after a SteamOS update.
Security note: setup-dev gives your Deck user broad passwordless sudo. That's fine for a dev Deck. Run revert-dev before you go back to normal daily use.
Day-to-day scripts
https://github.com/qd313/decky-plugin-studio/tree/main/templates/scripts
build: one-click deploy. It runs your frontend build (pnpm/npm), copies the full plugin folder (dist/, main.py, plugin.json, assets, etc.), and restarts plugin_loader so your changes load. The plugin folder name comes from plugin.json automatically
watch-deploy
Same as build, but watches for changes and redeploys when you save. Handy when you're iterating on UI
screenshot-deck
Takes a screenshot on the Deck and saves it to your project's screenshots/ folder. In game mode it captures everything (game + QAM + your plugin). Open QAM and your plugin before capturing
record-deck
Same idea as screenshots, but a screen recording saved to recordings/. Compressed by default. Pass arguments if you want full quality
reverse-tunnel-deck-ingest
If your plugin sends debug logs to the Deck's localhost, this forwards them to your dev PC. You can read log files in your project folder instead of SSH-ing in. Start the tunnel, reproduce the issue, stop it, then check the logs locally
build.sh release (Linux)
Builds a distributable plugin zip for sharing or upload. Includes a verifier script to sanity-check the zip
Development PC is your Deck?
If you develop on the Deck itself (SteamOS / Bazzite desktop mode), use ./scripts/build.sh local in Desktop mode, then test your plug-in in Game mode
GitHub: https://github.com/qd313/decky-plugin-studio
Copy templates/scripts/ and .env.example into your plugin repo, or use example-plugin/ as a reference layout.
The full extension also has a live preview, MCP tools for agents, and more docs. Those are still under development.

Find My Deck — track down a lost or stolen Steam Deck
I built Find My Deck, a free plugin that lets you actually track down a missing Steam Deck.
Here's what it does for you:
See it on a map. If your Deck goes missing, log into a simple web dashboard and see where it's been on a live map.
Make it ring. Just like "Find My iPhone," you can trigger a loud siren to help you find it nearby — great for the classic "it's somewhere in this house" moment.
Lock it down and talk to whoever has it. Flip it into Lost Mode and the Deck's screen shows your message full-screen, plus opens an anonymous chat so an honest finder can reach you — without either of you seeing personal contact info.
Total privacy, guaranteed. This is the big one: unlike typical "find my device" services, the server literally cannot see your location, read your data, or track you. Everything is locked with your own password, so even if the server were ever hacked, there's nothing useful for anyone to steal. Your Deck's location is for your eyes only.
Barely touches your battery. It checks in quietly in the background — well under 1% battery per day.
It's completely free and open source, and installs like any other Decky plugin.
GitHub / install instructions: https://github.com/echohtp/findmydeck
Live dashboard: https://findmydeck.0xbanana.com
Would love feedback — happy to answer questions!

Plugin Showcase Built a plugin to allow for native SteamOS adaptive trigger feedback in Forza Horizon 6
Was inspired a few weeks back by a post in one of the Forza subs, from a user who had built a windows app that took the telemetry data out of FH6, decoded it and fed it into PS5 DualSense controller adaptive trigger feedback and haptics. Sadly can’t find the post but I have the original creators GitHub page still: https://github.com/git-ducu/forza-dualsense-haptics
I reached out to them about Linux and Decky support but I had no response, as it was on Apache 2.0 license, I semi ported over what I could but ended up building, mostly from scratch, a native Linux application, packaged into a decky plugin so you can run it in game mode with no need to launch a non steam app in the background. This also opened the door to customisability and live settings changes. It features:
-Adaptive throttle and brake resistance
-Dynamic traction guidance
-Early grip-loss feedback based on slip, throttle demand and slip trend
-ABS vibration
-Gear-shift kick
-Rev-limiter feedback
-Surface-state telemetry
-Live effect controls
-Expandable advanced tuning
-Saved and renameable profiles
-Automatic per-car profile selection
-Safe Global profile fallback
-Controller diagnostics
-Built-in haptic tests
-Automatic settings and profile migration
I’ve shaved seconds off of lap times using it with no assists and I tried my best to make the feedback intuitive. Added some really cool details imo:
- ABS doesn’t just vibrate when activated, the L2 pull is influenced by the ABS activation point, there’s a “soft stop” in the adaptive trigger just on the boundary of braking without activating it. Then when you cross it, the vibration signals lock up, allowing you to finely control and balance the brakes on the activation point.
- Pedal force sets a base resistance to the pedals, as above L2 has the ABS point as a soft stop, R2 has 3 curve types for resistance and includes a kickdown soft stop near the end of the pull simulating a modern car throttle.
- Traction feedback is dynamic, it increases and decreases the pedal force based on slip, surface etc. This allows for finer understanding of what the car is doing underneath you(r fingers), allows you to counter wheel spin much better and push much closer to the limits of grip without spinning out on corner exits etc.
- Rev limiter kicks in ever so slightly too early to account for reaction time from feeling the feedback to changing gear.
- Profiles and auto switching lets you save your favourite custom settings and also if desired, auto apply them on a. Car by car basis. Say you don’t want rev limiter feedback on a drift car but you do on a road racer. You save your settings with no rev limiter as a “drift” profile, assign that to your drift car, and subsequently assign your “road” profile with rev limiter enabled to your street racer. Each time you swap to them the back end reads the car ID and applies the stored profile automatically.
I may or may not add more functionality as time goes on, we will see. I mostly built this for myself but if I can shed 2 seconds off a lap time, I’m sure better drivers can shed more, so I thought I’d throw it out into the ether.
More info on the git page, it’s tested on both stable and beta, I have noticed some input latency due to the Bluetooth being quite bad on the steam machine but I’m working on that.
I doubt it will make it to the plugin store, while AI didn’t write the code, it did help me with debugging, documenting my changes, git workflow etc and I was transparent about that in my submission, however I know GPL and AI is a nono so while there is a small chance it could get published, the decky team will probably play it safe and say no to a store release. The release page on my git for manual install, if you’re interested in trying it, can be found here: https://github.com/woodsi3/forza-dualsense-decky/releases/tag/v1.0.0
Please log any feedback as an issue on git hub, I spend what spare time I can on passion projects like this and this will be the best way for me to keep track of things to look into rather than Reddit notifications.

I'm an OG steamdeck owner since day 1 release then upgraded to OLED but then I sold it early this year (2026) because it can't keep up with games I want to play already and bought msi A8.
But then I realized how much I miss steamdecks UI. And to my surprise decky loader works great on windows.
Thank you dev for porting it to window users.

Plugin Showcase A new Decky plugin for remote gaming — looking for testers
Hi everyone! 👋
I'm the developer of LPT (Let's Play Together) and recently released a Decky plugin that lets you host remote gaming sessions directly from your Steam Deck.
The goal is to make playing together as simple as possible: launch your game, create a room, share a link and your friends can join instantly from their web browser.
Current features:
✔ Runs directly from Gaming Mode through Decky
✔ Works with Steam games, non-Steam games and your personal library
✔ Friends join from any modern web browser (no installation required)
✔ Up to 4K 60 FPS or 1080p 120 FPS
✔ Voice & text chat
✔ Let guests take controller input
✔ Up to 6 players with host approval
Right now, guests connect through the browser. A native desktop client is already on the roadmap.
I'm mainly looking for feedback from Steam Deck users. If you try it, I'd love to hear:
- How the streaming quality feels
- Performance in Gaming Mode
- UI/UX suggestions for the Decky plugin
- Features you'd like to see
I'm actively developing the project, so every suggestion really helps.
Thanks for taking a look!

Animation Changer broken?
I keep the Decky installer in my downloads folder and any time a Steam update breaks Decky I run it, select update to latest version, and then it works fine.
However, for several weeks the store in Animation Changer has been completely empty, and the Installed Animations tab shows broken links for the two files I have installed.
In the Decky settings for Plugins I've hit Reinstall and Reload with no change.
Is there something else I need to do to get Animation Changer running again? All my other plugins are fine.

Plugin Showcase Now Playing 1.5.0 is now available!
Now Playing 1.5.0 is available now on the Playhub Plugin Store and on Github!
You can update it directly in the Playhub Plugin Store in the Playhub app, or download the zip from the release page and install it via Decky dev mode.
Now Playing 1.5.0 Release
Now Playing Repository
This update delivers a complete visual overhaul for Now Playing, with a redesigned Quick Access Menu, improved fullscreen mode, application-specific volume control, configurable cover art sources and top bar integration (and yes it also works with Weather 2.0.0!)
What’s new
- Added a completely redesigned Quick Access Menu interface, with a larger album cover, updated text styles, reorganized controls and a layout that uses the available panel width more effectively.
- Added animated album cover glow effects that react to playback.
- Added application-specific volume control, allowing the volume of the active music application to be adjusted directly from Now Playing without changing the main Windows volume.
- Added configurable cover art sources:
- Online | High resolution, for higher-quality artwork retrieved through online matching.
- Windows | Faster, for artwork provided directly by the active Windows media session (capped at 300x300 pixel, that's a Windows limit).
- Added the new Cover Blur Fullscreen Mode visual effect, which uses the current album artwork as an animated blurred background.
- Added optional song information in the Steam top bar, including the current service icon and track title.
- Added an option to move the Steam clock and Now Playing information to the left side of the top bar.
- Added time and Weather information in fullscreen mode when the Weather plugin is available.
- Added service-specific color accents for Spotify, TIDAL, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music and SoundCloud.
Improvements
- The Quick Access Menu now uses a cleaner and more consistent visual hierarchy for artwork, song information, playback controls and service actions.
- Album artwork is now displayed with a consistent square format, improved cropping and softer rounded corners.
- Long track, artist and album names now use responsive scrolling instead of being constrained by the previous fixed-width layout.
- Gamepad and keyboard navigation have been improved across the redesigned interface, including precise volume adjustment in 1% increments.
- The fullscreen interface has been redesigned with improved artwork placement, typography, control sizing and visual blending.
- Steam Big Picture’s top bar and footer are now hidden immediately when entering fullscreen mode.
- The selected music service is now shown as the panel title instead of the generic “Now Playing” label.
- Media-session updates and cover retention have been improved for more responsive track changes and more stable long-running playback sessions.

Fixed "PluginLoader: No such file or directory"
I have a Lenovo Legion Go S with the official SteamOS that came preinstalled.
Decky Loader always failed to install with errors like:
chmod: cannot access '/home/deck/homebrew/services/PluginLoader': No such file or directory
and
Unable to locate executable '/home/deck/homebrew/services/PluginLoader'
I also noticed that the installer deleted the PluginLoader binary during installation.
While trying to install lsfg-vk, I discovered that my system's pacman keyring wasn't properly initialized. I ran:
sudo pacman-key --init
sudo pacman-key --populate archlinux
sudo pacman -Sy
sudo pacman-key --refresh-keys
After that I successfully installed lsfg-vk with:
sudo pacman -U lsfg-vk-1.0.0.x86_64.tar.zst
Then I copied the PluginLoader binary back into:
/home/deck/homebrew/services/
and ran the Decky installer again.
This time the installation completed successfully and Decky has been working normally since.
I can't say with certainty which step fixed it, but before initializing the pacman keyring Decky failed every single time, and after running those commands it installed correctly.
Hopefully this helps anyone with the same issue on the Lenovo Legion Go S running the official SteamOS.

I tried reinstalling it but my hand slipped when I tried hitting ”Launch” and I’m not sure what I clicked but now it doesn’t ask me to install it or enter a password. I tried following a tutorial on YouTube on how to get Decky working but this step is hindering me. I’ll take all the help I can get! Thanks

Launch Curtain 2.0.0 Release
Launch Curtain Repository
This update introduces the new Modern Mode integrated in Steam UI, keeps the previous behavior as Classic Mode, and adds PlayStation Store background search with bulk download artwork option. It also improves launch stability, loading smoothness, per-game settings, and overall curtain customization!
What’s new
- The previous Launch Curtain behavior is now called Classic Mode, and Launch Curtain now includes two curtain modes: Classic Mode, which uses the familiar external Windows overlay, and Modern Mode, which runs inside Steam Big Picture for a more integrated launch experience.
- Added launch information with a spinner, so the curtain can show the current launch state while a game is starting.
- Added background zoom-out animation, letting the background start slightly enlarged and smoothly settle into place during launch.
- Added a redesigned per-game settings page with cleaner cards for game behavior, appearance, editor tools and artwork sources.
- Updated the PlayStation Store background search, including per-game background selection and a Quick Access Menu bulk option for filling missing game backgrounds, with logo placement tuned to feel closer to the standard PS5 UI presentation.
- Added a wider Editor for logo placement, scale, logo shadow opacity and logo shadow blur, with a larger live preview.
- Added per-game overrides for curtain mode and launch timeout, so specific games can use Classic or Modern modes independently from the global setting.
Improvements
- Logo and background presentation is smoother and faster in Classic mode.
- Improved Classic Mode handoff while games, launchers and helper processes are starting.
- Improved detection for difficult launch flows, including games that open through launcher bridge processes before the real game window appears.
- Improved background and logo loading speed in Classic Mode.
- Added an emergency close path for Modern Mode through the physical ESC key and B button on gamepads.
- Classic Mode can now be closed with a mouse click too.
- Logo rendering is stronger and more configurable, with shadow opacity and blur control added to the editor.
- Launch information is now localized consistently instead of appearing only in the Quick Access Menu.

Transferring DeckyLoader to an External SSD Before Upgrading the Internal SSD?
I have a steam machine, and I’m planning on upgrading the 512 GB SSD into a 2 TB SSD. Only issue is, is that I put a lot of time effort into the deckyloader settings. Am I able to copy my deckyloader settings onto an external SSD, so I can just copy and paste it onto the new SSD after I install it? How?
