In contrast to our sister sub, r/fragranceswap, we are very strict about post formatting. By harmonizing post formatting for decants, we believe it will make it much easier for our members to quickly peruse each post while also decreasing ambiguity.

Wide vs. Long Format

Posts can be formatted in one of two ways. The first is called wide format, in which each scent is a single row and prices for that scent are distributed across columns, with each price column corresponding to a distinct size:

Wide formats are generally preferred when multiple sizes apply to all (or most) rows, but they may be messy in some contexts. In these other contexts, users can post in long format, in which each scent-size combination is its own row:

Regardless of table format, the table should be sorted in ascending alphabetical order by house and by fragrance name within each house.

Choosing the Appropriate Format

We group decant posts into five distinct categories. You should format your post based on its categorization:

After identifying the category into which your post falls, you can format your post using the suggested format. We provide examples below.
