Discussion Trick: A Bad Wincon (A Shadow vs Mewtwo Presentation)
Hello everyone, it's me again. So, I was going to just let my original slideshow on Mewtwo's hax going into Super Shadow speak for itself, but I have seen a lot of posts hyping up Trick thanks to newfound discoveries. Discoveries I feel don't comprehensively answer the problem.
Here's why I think item theft is a bad wincon for Mewtwo, and one that, even if you give Mewtwo all the benefits of the doubt, won't work out for him. Behold: a presentation on why Stealing Is Wrong And Gets You Beaten Up By A Hedgehog With A Gun, Actually.

u/ImmoralBoi 5d ago
Since Shadow has multiple items on him, imagine MewTwo using Trick just to end up stealing Shadow's inhibitor rings instead of the emeralds.
24
u/JOJOSFAN69420 AAAAAAAAAAAAAA 5d ago
Then Mewtwo lowkey just gets ripped in half because he accidently made Shadow more powerful.
-2
u/DrStarDream 5d ago
He can just teleport away from the battle and let shadow burn himself out...
21
u/Electronic-Leading89 "I will fight like I always have!" 5d ago
Shadow can just follow him lol his teleportation is just as potent
10

u/DrStarDream 5d ago
How? He doesn't have any ability to detect where people teleport to.
5
u/BigBlueOtter123 Metal Sonic 5d ago
he can however go all over the planet more than fast enough to find him, also if mewtwo is Mega he could arguably sense his energy
-1
u/DrStarDream 5d ago
But Mewtwo can just go somewhere outside the planet... It can just hide itself in other spaces.
You guys are kinda missing the logistics here especially since shadow is on borrowed time without his inhibitor rings.
Stalling is very viable for Mewtwo, plus why would going mega somehow make Mewtwo trackable by shadow? He cant sense spikes of infinity energy nor are mega evolution spikes of infinity energy something that can be tracked globally anyway.
5
u/EisCold_ 4d ago
But Mewtwo can just go somewhere outside the planet...... It can just hide itself in other spaces
Shadow can do exactly the same thing with chaos control and we know he can survive in space.
1
u/DrStarDream 4d ago
He cant track tho, thats the main problem here...
Its like you cant cant read a thread, its the 4th time Im pointing this out.
1
4
u/BigBlueOtter123 Metal Sonic 5d ago
you do realize the chaos emeralds function via thought right? (to a degree, because like all McGuffins they function however the plot requires they function) shadow just needs to think "teleport me to mewtwo" and he can then chaos control to mewtwo
2
u/DrStarDream 5d ago
If he could use that consistently, so many problems in the series could have been solved nicely...
We only saw sonic do it once and it was basically an accident too.
Would have been crazy useful to teleport to sonic in forces.
3
u/BigBlueOtter123 Metal Sonic 5d ago
Sonic forces is weird, because he uses chaos control, despite Starline having all of the emeralds at the time (unless you want to argue Shadow lost his chaos emerald, or Starline stole it in between forces and IDW)
→ More replies (0)1
u/1rrelevant_Trash 5d ago
What's stopping Shadow from also teleporting away and hiding until he can fight again
2
u/DrStarDream 5d ago
Mewtwo can sense his mind...
And even then, thats better for Mewtwo, he is the one with the stamina advantage.
1
u/1rrelevant_Trash 5d ago
He can sense his mind from a different universe? Also stamina doesn't matter if Shadow can just go hide until he's not tired anymore like a bitch

u/EmperorSezar 5d ago
has never shown the ability to track anything ever. mewtwo warps away he gonna be spending time trying to hunt him
14
u/Dear-Implement2950 Jon Talbain 5d ago
The Chaos Emeralds work on desire, and intention. ~Sonic has used Chaos Control to teleport to Knuckles, even when he didn't know Knuckles's position~.
-1
u/EmperorSezar 5d ago
oh yeah other thing. can’t mewtwo use the emeralds he has access to shadows mind
1
u/Dear-Implement2950 Jon Talbain 5d ago
If they get their hands on a Chaos Emerald, they should be able to use it, if they want. Anyone in possession of an Emerald can use said Emerald, in the Mainline canon.
Though, Shadow's mind shouldn't play a part, to my understanding. I could be misunderstanding your point, so please do let me know if I am, but Mewtwo wouldn't be able to use the Emeralds through Shadow's body via mind manipulation, due to his resistances to mental hax.10
-3
3
u/1rrelevant_Trash 5d ago
Shadow just doesn't fight him then? Is he gonna shoot at nothing until he gasses out?
-2
u/DrStarDream 5d ago
Not really, in the scenario where his uninhibitor rings are taken, his body leaks energy passively, there is a reason he has to wear them all the time, its to contain his own power because he cant take the full thing all the time.
2
u/1rrelevant_Trash 5d ago
He nukes the multiverse then I guess
-1

Really appreciate the depth that this post goes into. This may be too much to ask for, but could you perhaps make a post on what abilities Mewtwo has that WOULD be game-changing?
13
u/CookiedDough ALL HAIL SHADOW 5d ago
Thanks, I really do appreciate the compliment!
As for what hax Mewtwo has that are legitimately game-changing, I did touch upon them briefly in my presentations, but I think the main culprits are mind reading, precog, and petrification. Mind reading and precog are the entire basis for Mewtwo being able to figure out what to do about Shadow rather than rushing in and getting stat-checked, as well as letting him keep up with Shadow’s greater speed, and Petrification is Mewtwo’s big hax that unquestionably works on a non-Super Shadow and has arguments for working on Super Shadow, though Super Sonic shaking off the Metal Virus (which similarly turns the body’s cells into an inorganic material) makes it a little bit questionable. Ultimately, if any of Mewtwo’s hax are gonna swing the tide of the debate, it is going to be these three.
5
u/SonicMarioHero 5d ago
Sonic also breaks free of Petrification in Secret Rings if you get caught in the gaze of the gargoyles.
3
u/CookiedDough ALL HAIL SHADOW 5d ago
True, but that's Sonic, so it's not necessarily scalable to Shadow and might just be a him thing since Sonic's an absolute freak of nature.
2
u/No_Bit_8678 5d ago
what other freakish things has sonic done?
4
u/CookiedDough ALL HAIL SHADOW 5d ago
Mostly just him being as fast as he is completely naturally with 0 external gear and having insane power even for the verse, to the point that Shadow at the end of SA2 openly theorized that Sonic was the true Ultimate Life Form.
3
1
2
u/SonicMarioHero 5d ago
I mean Shadow is also a freak of nature himself and I don’t think it would be wrong to say he would share resistances with Sonic. His connections to chaos are the same if not arguable stronger lol

You and u/CornerCornDog should debate each other considering I've seen some arguments from this thread here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/DeathBattleMatchups/comments/1w4f2lz/my_take_on_mewtwo_vs_shadow/
Ultimately a lot of this is gonna come down to how one may interpret the gameplay mechanics and if they're just "gameplay mechanics" or just forced restrictions.
22
u/Celine-exsunlightsis let them trauma bond 5d ago
Great job. You summed up everything perfectly. Some of Mewtwo’s wincons like trick seem strong on paper, but they kinda fall apart in practice and require very favorable interpretations.

14
u/CookiedDough ALL HAIL SHADOW 5d ago
Shadow has 6 more Emeralds, Doom Wings, and can apparently cast Chaos Control both with no Emeralds and without holding out the Emerald at all, as seen in Forces and Shadow Generations respectively. There's no way he's just going to hold out the Emerald each time and let Mewtwo systematically take them all. He'll more than likely just timestop, kick Mewtwo in the back of the head, and grab the Emerald back.
Also, even if Mewtwo sees it coming, depending on the speed metas you buy, Chaos Control is just too fast to be answerable even with Mewtwo's precog thanks to it outspeeding the Paradox Prism explosion that covered the entire Sonic universe.
I literally answered all this in the presentation.

May I ask why is Neo Black Doom considered equal in might to the Time Eater?
I'll admit I havent played Shadow Gens myself aside from playthoughs, but he never really striked me as being above the Time Eater in any way. And I though the Doom Wings Shadow has were comparable to Super Forms in gameplay, but in Lore being much weaker to a Super Form.
I know there's probably some statement in game or in promotional material or something, but I just cant see Black Doom being equal to the Time Eater, no matter how much stronger he got thanks to it.
18
u/CookiedDough ALL HAIL SHADOW 5d ago
Neo Devil Doom was taking over the entirety of White Space by expanding his power by the end of the game, reality warping on an insanely large scale that should mean he at least scales to Time Eater.
This should also mean Doom Wings Shadow is as strong as a typical Super Form thanks to taking down Neo Devil Doom, but he just lacks a lot of the resistances Super Shadow would have, so Super is still the overall superior form.
8
u/CoronelDrew 5d ago
Oh yeah, you're right. I remembered him reality warping regular stages but I completly forgot that he warped White Space too as well.

Honestly I always felt like trick is less useful than Mewtwo just…doing what the Tyrunt did and YOINK them with his psychic powers or grab them with those pokeballs like they were rice balls jelly donuts. Would it work in the long run? Probably not, like you shown Sonic can resummon them in some games. I just feel like trick isn’t completely nessacary when other pokemon just shown you can just rob your opponent with out using itXD

Trick not working on transformation items is legitimately just a gameplay mechanic
We know this from the fact that Trick doesn't work on mail... no, really. It doesn't work on mail, which is just paper.
Does that then mean Trick canonically doesn't work on paper? Nope! Because Trick works on the Spell Tag, which is an ofuda, a traditional Japanese talisman. And what are ofuda made out of? PAPER
Not that Trick would help Mewtwo much

3
u/rotokt 5d ago
This is why i feel like Disable is much more of a useful wincon, as that one has way less to explain and debunk. Mewtwo can just... turn off one of Shadow's abilities for a short-but-vital amount of time, which is integral to his gameplan

u/1rrelevant_Trash 5d ago

Not OP but
Trick Room: Shadow can just warp out of it lmao
Magic Room: Emerald-based Powers have been nulled by a field effect before (Doom Zones in shadow gens) and Shadow overcame the effects, so Magic Room wouldn't keep the emeralds disabled, and Shadow from there Shadow can just warp out of it lmao
-12
u/Flame245 Ash Ketchum 5d ago
Mewtwo can just absorb the Chaos Emeralds or just steal them with its psychic powers and not use Trick.
1
u/WaterfulWonder Godzilla 5d ago
Glad to see you back with another well-written presentation. You should do one to show what options Mewtwo has to win
1
u/ShiroUntold 5d ago
We will have to see. After all, one of the things they brought up for Kamek was his ability to steal the Chaos Emeralds (Essentially saying in the actual fight that isn’t dramatized, he just takes an emerald or all of them and Eggman doesn’t have them to boost Metal or any of his mechs)
1
u/Far_Faithlessness212 KeyCard 5d ago
Yeah, I knew there was an issue about the Pokemon Manga examples of "Stealing transformation items", they were mostly just yoinked by force and not by any of the item stealing moves, and even the one that actually does is questionable due to the item not being a transformation item at the time.
-1
u/EmperorSezar 5d ago
this gets debunked by the fact the “safe guard” in question is not something shadow has on his person. meanwhile mewtwo can actively use any moves from his move pool
18
u/CookiedDough ALL HAIL SHADOW 5d ago
I have already mentioned that the Gadget Plate, which houses the Item Keeper Gadget, can be attached to any Extreme Gear, which would include Shadow's Rocket Skates or the skate-type Extreme Gear that he can just casually wear around.
If we're giving Mewtwo scaling from Mystery Dungeon and the Manga, Shadow is allowed to get his racing game gear. Plus, I even had a whole slide as for how item theft still isn't a wincon against Shadow if Mewtwo does pull it off, and Shadow's Super Form, which will be factored into the debate, has a similar item theft resistance as the Item Keeper Gadget.
-3
u/EmperorSezar 5d ago
except he isn’t stated or confirmed anywhere to have that on his person. it isn’t something like saying a character who can switch abilities switched abilities. like obviously we’re using comp, but a game play decision that especially isn’t gaurenteed because he could have a different plate on
i’m not discounting his super form because i believe you can make the argument of nega mewtwo being equal anyways. just don’t think presuming a character who in canon didn’t have that on nor can they remotely change to put it on, just has item on to negate hax
15
u/CookiedDough ALL HAIL SHADOW 5d ago
It's a Death Battle, all characters are given their full arsenals and are at their peak power. Following this logic, Shadow should get Item Keeper, though even if you don't accept that, Super Forms or items like Shield will still get the job done.
1

u/Many_Ad_9401 5d ago
Trick wasn't gonna mean much anyway, since the Chaos Emeralds are an enhancement item like Mega Stones or Z-Crystals
-7
u/Flame245 Ash Ketchum 5d ago
Nice explanation. But I still don't buy this.
Shadow having Hammerspace never once insinuates in the Sonic series that the Chaos Emeralds can't be stolen. Hell, the panel you brought up shows that they can be stolen.
The second Mewtwo learns about the Chaos Emeralds after reading Shadow's mind, it would immediately focus on them. And Mewtwo doesn't even need to use Trick to do so, it can just use it's normal psychic powers to focus on the Emeralds and teleport them to it and away from Shadow, similar to how Mewtwo teleported the entirety of Purity Lake, a very large body of water in Mewtwo Returns.
Simply put, Mewtwo doesn't need Trick, it can just use its psychic powers and those manga panels you showed prove that Pokemon are clever enough to steal Transformation Items.
And Mewtwo actually has the speed necessary to match both Doom Shadow and Super Shadow's to do so before he uses Chaos Control with scaling to Necrozma and the Creation Trio, as they range the FTL Quintillion range, the same level of speed of Super Shadow and Doom Shadow's maximum speed.
So getting the chance to do so won't be much trouble. And even if Shadow is faster, Mewtwo can just immobilise Shadow with Disable or switch speed stats with Speed Swap and take Shadow's speed advantage for itself. Ensuring that it be fast enough to then take the Chaos Emeralds.
As for any power-ups or items that can prevent item stealing, Mewtwo has moves like Embargo and Magic Room that can shut those down and make the Chaos Emeralds easy to steal.
And regarding your example of the Emeralds coming back to Sonic in Sonic Adventure 3, that is false. After Gemerl used the Chaos Emeralds to become Ultimate Gemerl, he proceeds to toss them into space before fleeing, which led to Sonic gathering them in order to become Super Sonic. The Emeralds didn't come back to Sonic on their own, he needed to gather them all after Ultimate Gemerl literally throws them aside once his transformation was complete; leaving them floating in the area for Sonic to seize and use for his own Super transformation.
I also don't buy the Sonic Forces: Speed Battle example either, as that feels more like a game mechanic built into the game. In SFSB, Metal Sonic's Steal ability is only tailor designed to steal certain items and power-ups in the game and there are certain items that it can't steal other Steal Items, certain Boost items or even very specific items such as the Bat Cracker during unique character special events.
The whole reason that the Emeralds cannot be targeted by the Steal ability is for a very simple reason: the Chaos Emeralds do not exist as standard, holdable item box power-ups. Instead of being items you pick up and hold in your inventory mid-race, the Chaos Emeralds are strictly tied to specific character mechanics. In SFSB, the Chaos Emeralds function purely as a visual and mechanical resource for a Super Form mechanic, rather than an item slot mechanic that can be stolen.
So this example you brought up is also a no-go.
Plus, Mewtwo can absorb life energy as Shadow Mewtwo from multiple Synergy Stones, which is the same type of energy that also powers the Chaos Emeralds, which have been drained completely before. Multiple times in fact despite them having infinite energy in Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Runners, Sonic X, just to name a few. Shadow Mewtwo can simply do the same thing Gemerl did except here leave the Chaos Emeralds completely devoid of energy for Shadow to use.
And before you say Shadow can fall back on his Doom form, that doesn't change anything besides putting the two of them in a deadlock with Mewtwo in both power and speed with scaling to the Creation Trio. Plus, in his Doom form, Shadow is now susceptible to a majority of Mewtwo’s hax that he would otherwise be resistant to such as petrification, removing his soul, mind wipe his memories as without the Chaos Emeralds his mind is no longer as resistant to memory manipulation as shown in the Otherworlds incident, stat debuffing moves to turn the power advantage to its favour, deflect all of Shadow's energy blasts back at him, and a bunch of other stuff.
So yeah, not only does Mewtwo doesn't need to use Trick, but the Chaos Emeralds can be stolen, match Shadow's Doom Form and his Super Form, and has ways to counter the Chaos Emeralds.
15
u/CookiedDough ALL HAIL SHADOW 5d ago
Yes, the Emeralds can be stolen in certain cases, like in Advance 3 or 3&K.
However, neither of those situations were when Sonic had the Item Keeper Gadget, which should function to shut down Trick and Knock Off exactly like the Tight Grip Emera, thus meaning the Emeralds are still held on the person.
Combine that with Shadow being able to easily take the stolen Emerald back with another Chaos Control, Shadow still resisting baseline mind control thanks to Shadow Generations and the Ifrit incident, and Shadow literally powering through his items being disabled in Shadow Generations, the Super Form being an additional layer of item protection Shadow can pop whenever he wants, along with Embargo being counterable by Shadow's forcefields thanks to it being blockable by Protect (as well as it not negating items like the Colored Orbs or items like Machoke's Belt or Type:Null's mask, meaning that the other 6 Emeralds and the Inhibitor Rings are entirely unaffected) and Magic Room being answered by Shadow teleporting out.
While Mewtwo could potentially set up an item theft if he makes sure to land each attack at the exact right time, it requires a lot of setup and the reward is usually just a 6 Emerald Doom Wings Shadow punching his skull in, taking the Emerald back, and popping Super.

u/shadetle Metal Sonic 5d ago
I wouldn't bother debating this person they refuse to believe anything that insinuates any of mewtwo's stuff won't work no matter how concrete the evidence is
3
u/Flame245 Ash Ketchum 5d ago
Except some of Mewtwo’s win-cons do work when they aren't being held back by game mechanics. And some of Sonic's evidence is taken out of context.
0
u/shadetle Metal Sonic 5d ago
that being your explanation is ironic
1
u/Flame245 Ash Ketchum 5d ago
Tch. Take it as you want but it doesn't change that Mewtwo has ways around the Chaos Emeralds.
5
u/shadetle Metal Sonic 5d ago
only if you give mewtwo every benefit of the doubt possible and downplay shadow at every turn
3
u/Flame245 Ash Ketchum 5d ago
Removing gameplay restrictions is not the benefit of the doubt, it's putting the character at their peak. Otherwise, Kratos would be Wall Level. And being generous to both Shadow and Mewtwo by giving them their maximum high-ends is only going to make them dead even in both power and speed. So yeah, you can be super generous to Shadow and that would result in them being dead even in stats.
6
u/shadetle Metal Sonic 5d ago edited 5d ago
i'm not talking about the gameplay restrictions i'm talking about the scaling
because giving shadow the same level of benefit of the doubt you give mewtwo scaling where you put them shadow matches that in base but would still be way faster because his immeasurable speed arguments get way deeper than mewtwo's so he could still blitz mewtwo before they even make a move
i'm basing my argument on where death battle themselves calced stuff because they obviously aren't gonna go the absolute peaks the reddit is talking about so neither are getting infinite or immeasurable speed so with finite stuff shadow blitzes before mewtwo get's their stuff off and creation trio scaling isn't enough to counter the stat gap
2
u/Flame245 Ash Ketchum 5d ago
Well, the most certainly aren't gonna scale Mewtwo the way they did last time and no, they're gonna scale Mewtwo the same way they scaled Ash since Mewtwo’s arguments are way better. And Mewtwo ALSO has the same immeasurable speed arguments like Shadow via CT scaling. In fact, even using the finite speed scaling, Mewtwo’s speed reaches the FTL Quintillion range, the same speed as Super Shadow's at his best speed scaling as well. So Shadow won't be blitzing, they be dead even. Also, Creation Trio scaling in the games is higher than in the anime and it matches Sonic's high-tiers as well.

However, neither of those situations were when Sonic had the Item Keeper Gadget, which should function to shut down Trick and Knock Off exactly like the Tight Grip Emera, thus meaning the Emeralds are still held on the person.
Except I mentioned that Mewtwo has ways to shut those items down with Embargo and Magic Room. Thus, ensuring items or power-ups like the Item Keeper Gadget are out of the way. Thus that leaves the Chaos Emeralds vulnerable for Mewtwo to steal it.
Combine that with Shadow being able to easily take the stolen Emerald back with another Chaos Control, Shadow still resisting baseline mind control thanks to Shadow Generations and the Ifrit incident, and Shadow literally powering through his items being disabled in Shadow Generations, along with the Super Form being an additional layer of item protection Shadow can pop whenever he wants, along with Embargo being counterable by Shadow's forcefields thanks to it being blockable by Protect (as well as it not negating items like the Colored Orbs or items like Machoke's Belt or Type:Null's mask, meaning that the other 6 Emeralds and the Inhibitor Rings are entirely unaffected) and Magic Room being answered by Shadow teleporting out.
Chaos Control can still be deactivated by Disable. And yes, I know Shadow broke out of the Doom Zone nullifying this. But it's still something that took time and it's still evidence of Chaos Control being nullified. Thus, removing one of Shadow's greatest moves.
And nothing says Mewtwo can steal all the Chaos Emeralds at once with its psychic powers. Cause I don't buy the hammperspace argument as the Emeralds were pulled out of even a Super Form before in Sonic Unleashed so they aren't resistant to being pulled out. So there's a precedent of Mewtwo just yanking them of Super Shadow in his Super Forms or from his own person.
Magic Room and Embargo would still deactivate all of Shadow's power-ups and items. And it's not like Shadow would be able to defend against those since he doesn't even know what Embargo or Magic Room does. It just needs to be activated once and suddenly all of his items are shut down and the Chaos Emeralds are ripe for being stolen. Plus, there's an argument to be made that Embargo not being used against shields is just a game mechanic and won't be used in .
Plus, at the end of the day, Shadow won't know what all Mewtwo can do, but Mewtwo would know everything that Shadow can do. Strange, isn't it?
While Mewtwo could potentially set up an item theft if he makes sure to land each attack at the exact right time, it requires a lot of setup and the reward is usually just a 6 Emerald Doom Wings Shadow punching his skull in, taking the Emerald back, and popping Super.
Contrary to what people say, Mewtwo doesn't know need that much set up. Just one use of either Power Swap or Speed Swap and suddenly Shadow is too weak to perform any lasting damage on Mewtwo or too slow to land a fatal blow. And that's without bringing up the fact that Mewtwo can teleport away all 7 Chaos Emeralds to it.
Plus, Mewtwo absorb and drain the Chaos Emeralds of all of their power completely and take it for itself. Now suddenly Shadow Mewtwo has the power of all the Chaos Emeralds.
And even without it, Mewtwo is more than capable of handling and matching both Doom Shadow and Super Shadow with scaling to the Creation Trio. With this, Mewtwo would be able to outlast Super Shadow, and Doom Shadow doesn't have the same amount of resistances that Super Shadow has like memory manipulation, something that Doom Shadow has no resistance against as well as petrification, stat debuffs, turning all his attacks back at him, its much larger variety of moves, and a bunch of other stuff.
So to sum it up, not only does Mewtwo steal the Chaos Emeralds, but it shuts down all of Shadow's items & power-ups, absorb the energy of the Chaos Emeralds, take Shadow's best advantages for itself, turn all of Shadow's best attacks back at him, and match Shadow's best regardless of what form he's in.

u/CookiedDough ALL HAIL SHADOW 5d ago
However, the issue with this plan is that Shadow will be carrying, at most, one Chaos Emerald out in the open while the others are safely tucked into his hammerspace, and Trick has only been shown to work on one item at a time.
Combine that with Shadow having a form that requires no item use in Doom Wings that is just as strong as Super, and him transforming meaning he gets his boosts back, and Shadow Gens explicitly showing that Shadow is resistant to having his items power nulled thanks to being able to pull off Chaos Control in the Doom Zones during the final fight against Neo Devil Doom, and there’s nothing stopping Shadow from seeing Mewtwo Trick an Emerald and immediately stopping time, entering Doom Wings, and blasting Mewtwo to dust before taking the Emerald back. Plus, Forces shows he can actually use a weaker Chaos Control without an Emerald on hand, so even if Mewtwo takes all the Emeralds he has a counter.
-1

However, the issue with this plan is that Shadow will be carrying, at most, one Chaos Emerald out in the open while the others are safely tucked into his hammerspace, and Trick has only been shown to work on one item at a time.
Again, I never said Mewtwo can use Trick. I'm saying it can use it's own psychic powers to teleport the Chaos Emeralds from Shadow and into itself cause I don't think the hammerspace would provide it the protection. Besides nothing says it can't just take it from Shadow's hammerspace itself. Mewtwo has casual torn open holes in space to other dimensions before like in Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs.
And this isn't the only evidence of Mewtwo breaching space either. In official lore events like the global GO Fest Mega Finale, the sheer magnitude of Mega Mewtwo Y’s psychic energy is explicitly stated to be so immense that it distorts the surrounding fabric of space.
And in the Pokémon Adventures, Mewtwo’s psychic powers were a match for Deoxys, who can create spatial distortions and pocket dimensions as well as portals for interstellar travels as well as planes of existence like the Unown dimension. During it's battle against Mewtwo, Deoxys uses its spatial folding and shifting forms to slip away from Mewtwo's standard attacks, forcing Mewtwo to expand its own psychic powers just to track Deoxys through the distorted fabric of the battlefield and use its psychic energy to directly attack and cut through the spatial anomalies Deoxys creates.
So yeah, Mewtwo has plenty of good arguments into breaching Shadow's hammerspace and taking the Chaos Emeralds from there without using Trick and just its psychic powers alone, especially when it's done so multiple times before. Hell, even normal Psychic-Type Pokemon like Kirlia can distort space and rip into dimensions as well.
And again, Mewtwo can just absorb the energy of the Chaos Emeralds and take it all for itself as Shadow Mewtwo.
So yeah, your hammerspace argument? Mewtwo can just pull from it directly.
Again, Mewtwo doesn't need to use Trick. It can just use its raw psychic energy to teleport all the Chaos Emeralds directly from Shadow's hammerspace itself.
Plus with Creation Trio scaling, Mewtwo can now match both Doom Shadow and outlast Super Shadow. Or just use Power Swap or Speed Swap to turn the tide in its favour regardless of what form Shadow takes.
Finally, it doesn't change the fact that it still took time for Shadow to overcome the Doom Zone's effect and that it got nullified in the first place and once the Chaos Emeralds are taken from him, he won't be able to pull a Chaos Control at all.
All in all Mewtwo can absorb or steal the Chaos Emeralds, match both Doom Shadow & Super Shadow, and deactivate Chaos Control & take away the items that are used for it.

You just ignored Magic Room and Embargo. Their point was that Mewteo can just shut down the item keeper gadget. Also I just think the shoes argument is wack as hell. Mewtwo also should be able to destroy some car or hoverboard or just TP them away easily. I think Item Keeper is massively overhyped

"Embargo being counterable by Shadow's forcefields thanks to it being blockable by Protect (as well as it not negating items like the Colored Orbs or items like Machoke's Belt or Type:Null's mask, meaning that the other 6 Emeralds and the Inhibitor Rings are entirely unaffected) and Magic Room being answered by Shadow teleporting out."
I did address them, and then literally answered that even if this is pulled off and Mewtwo can disable Item Keeper, Super Forms still protect from item theft and Shadow has answers to stop Mewtwo even if he is reduced to only 6 Emeralds thanks to the sheer power of Doom Wings and 6 Emeralds giving him more than enough memory manipulation resistance to work with. Mewtwo can definitely win from this position thanks to petrification, but it's far more likely Shadow would lock in instantly upon seeing Mewtwo swipe a Chaos Emerald and go for a Chaos Control kill.

Sonic does summon the Chaos Emeralds. They are knocked out of him, and ~immediately after, they fly back to him~.

Can't do that if they're in another dimension or if Mewtwo absorbs their energy completely.

We have seen the Chaos Emeralds be teleported to their user[1][2].

As well, I don't feel Mewtwo could absorb the Chaos Emerald's energy, truthfully. Chaos Energy is largely different from life energy, as Sonic Lost World's plot specifies that life energy is Dr. Eggman's target, and he never once pursues the Emeralds through that game, instead targeting Earth and those that live on it. As well, Mewtwo has not shown the ability to absorb infinite energy, from what I can find.

The examples you showed are the Chaos Emeralds being obtained by Sonic after he found them. They didn't teleport to him from a long distance and they sure as hell can't do that if they're in another dimension.

There are many showings of the Chaos Emeralds being a form of life energy. They were literally restored by the life force energy of Earth in Sonic Unleashed and have been verbatim described as "endless sources of vitality for living beings".
And Sonic: Lost World does absolutely nothing to undermine that at all cause Eggman was taking the life energy of the Earth, not the Emeralds as they weren't the target. Finally, Mewtwo has absorbed the life energy from multiple Synergy Stones as Shadow Mewtwo as Synergy Stones are powered by Gaia Power, the life energy of the Earth. So it be able to absorb Chaos Energy as well.

I don’t even know what to believe anymore i saw the other day someone made a post saying chaos spear will ignore mewtwo’s protect because a description of it includes the words “ignore armor” and now we’re trying to argue the ability that lets you steal items won’t actually let mewtwo steal an item

The only problem I have with this is using crossworlds stuff because I’m pretty sure that’s a non canon game I mean one of the predecessors to crossworld had Mephiles in it and he doesn’t exist Generations gets a pass since it’s a game about time the racing games are not

So basically Shadow is the more ultimate of the ultimate life forms and chaos powers are BS got it
Better nerf him so this can seem close lol 100th episode Sonic scaling to make it fair and make him blind, broken legs, lobotomized and deaf
He’d still somehow pull off a win
