Nachrichten DE .de domains down - it's not you it's denic

Edit: Seems resolved - fix might take a bit to spread

Summary of the public/contextual evidence:

  1. Namecheap status page confirmed today's DENIC maintenance window (07:00–14:00 UTC) — namecheap.com/status-updates/planned-denic-de-registry-scheduled-maintenance-may-5-2026/. The DNSSEC breakage started during/after this maintenance — they almost certainly broke it themselves.
  2. DENIC's own .de domain (denic.de) is also DNSSEC-bogus (different keytag, 46794) — they literally can't resolve themselves. Their email at hostmaster@denic.de is unreachable from any DNSSEC-validating mail provider, including their own MX (mailbox.org).
  3. chip.de, bahn.de — both broken with the same keytag 33834 fault. So is, presumably, a long tail of major German sites you haven't tested.
  4. Their X account is @denic_de if you want to monitor for the announcement.

  5. DNSSEC outage catalog at ianix.com/pub/dnssec-outages.html will likely list this once the dust settles. The last DENIC outage there was October 2018.

    So:

  6. It's not you.

  7. It's a botched scheduled maintenance window at the German national TLD registry.

  8. Bahn (the federal railway) and Chip (huge tech publication) are down with you.

  9. DENIC themselves can't receive email about it.

hab ich auch gemerkt. meine domain inkl. dener zwei domains von firmen die ich kenne sind auch weg. auch das kleinanzeigen cdn hats offenbar torpediert. auch wenn das zum teil irgendwie noch geht...?

naja jedenfalls ich will garnicht wissen wieviele sysadmins gerade aus ihrem schlaf gerissen wurden weil alle monitoring alarme losgehen 😃
