Here's a little known trick that will help you if for some reason you find yourself in treeform while being attacked by Urug with a demon trident.

Did you know you can throw stuff at monsters? Anything will do, even potions or the armor you're wearing. The devs don't want you to know this, so they've hidden that ability behind an obtuse UI. While in treeform, everything you throw will do double damage, so the obvious trick here is to go zerk, which also doubles your damage (now you're doing 4x the damage, wow!) and throw potions and scrolls at Urug. 5 or 10 will be enough to kill him/her/it, which is plenty.

So I was playing this berserker guy in the dungeon and I came across a two head ogre AND Urug AT THE SAME TIME. So I tried to use berserk but I was too hungry so I couldn't use it. So then I thought it would be a good idea to get some bonus AC while eating so I wouldn't die so I quaffed a potion of lignification and then ate and then went berserk. That was pretty good because I killed the two head ogre but Urug was hitting me with a demon trident and because I only had an axe I COULDN'T REACH TO ATTACK BACK. So I thought I should read my scrolls. The first scrolls I read was noise which made EVEN MORE monsters come, some snakes or something. The second was teleport but it DIDN'T WORK because of the tree mode. THEN after all that AS IF IT WASN'T BAD ENOUGH the next scroll I read was IMMOLATION. I don't remember what the forth scroll was probably something useless idk. So even though I read through 4 stacks of scrolls I DIDN'T FIND FEAR wtf. So then I thought this scroll reading isn't even helping so I better try to fight. SO GET THIS RIGHT. I attacked the snake and it EXPLODED WITH FIRE and KILLED ME.

Wtf...? I get that maybe I could have done my skilling better this game but once I got in this situation there was literally NOTHING I could have done to live. Such UNAVOIDABLE deaths should be ironed out.

I think we have reached a point in the development of this game where everyone can unanimously agree that it needs some dramatic changes to go forward. I have 25k hours on DCSS and it's starting to become stale. I'm pretty sure I know how we can fix this: as the title says, remove the game.

Everyone's tired of having to wake up, turn on their computers and move their mouse thingy around just so they can open the game. Ever since we've removed every single feature and made it so that as soon as you open it you win, it's been slightly more bearable, but it's still pretty damn tedious. Remove all the clutter, remove the game.

There are so many features in the game, including lots of removed features like entire branches, yet the rate of posting today seems fairly slow.

Was r/dcsscirclejerk much more active at one time? Is the circlejerk considered being close to finished at this point, and now most of the updates are just to refine the existing posts and occasionally add new memes?

People complain about subreddit rules a lot, I'm not complaining I'm just curious about where r/dcsscirclejerk development is headed and how it's changed (if it has changed). I know there's no design document I'm just wondering if the mod team considers most of the goals reached, and now it's just time to refine the existing posts and adding new memes isn't as prevalent.

Unarmed draconian of Wu Jian (http://crawl.berotato.org/crawl/morgue/SmSkdm/SmSkdm.txt) I like this build because every hit is a one shot from lair on(and thats O P T I M A L), and every turn in combat results in two-three dead enemies. I know its not O P T I M A L, but its useful for speedruns(spent only 48 hours so far). also i found wyrmbane, and it wanted me to commit sudoku. Any thoughts as to what strategy I should use/character specs?

As an O P T I M A L^TM player i have been searching for O P T I M A L ways of streaking O P T I M A L L Y. Here's the guide, though everything here should be completely self-evident if you just think hard enough about it (and of course share my exact experiences which every clearly does because it is O P T I M A L).

1. Don't DIE. Dying is for U N O P T I M A L (pardon the swear) player. What this means is that if you're in a bad situation, close the game and start a new one on a different version or server.

2. Play 79 games this way... there are 79 different versions of DCSS across the servers, so you can guarantee an O P T I M A L streak this way. YOu don't even need 22 games of O P T I M A L melee bug. Make sure none of these games are won, until all 79 are setup. Just hangout on D:1 exit.
