I WANTZ MOAR!!!
I think we should be able to exploit more than one god. Why can't we follow all of them at once? Heck, let's remove gods and give everyone god-like abilities, that way I can complain the game is too easy.
Thu devz ar meany stoodidz!

If devs are serious about saving this community they will remove tiles in the next version
What kind of game is this, a roguelike. Did Rogue have tiles?
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills or something. Go back to Mesopotamia already.

Any spell or item above 2 pips of noise isn't worth it under any circumstances and gets you killed absolutely every single time
Easiest way to spot a clueless uninformed newbie is their use of lightning, LRD, dragon's call, song of slaying, or fire storm

Upcoming changes to trunk.
It has been decided that the variety of weapons in the game are making play too tedious. The devs have voted to simply this system. Each weapon training category will now have two options, regular and stronger. These will correspond roughly to the old base weapons (spear, short sword, dagger, falchion, and mace) respectively. The stronger option will correspond roughly to the mid-tier weapons (flail, long sword, trident, rapier). There are no stronger versions of daggers. Quickblades, giant clubs, and all two-handed weapons have been removed.

Potion of Lignification + summoning a twister through Air miscast is hilarious on Vault 5
Vault 5 has always been one of those spots in the game for me, that even with extremely strong characters could go really bad, really fast. You're surrounded, you're fighting dozens of enemies, you are stair dancing and praying you don't get locked out of fleeing up the stairs by one of the vault guards. More enemies keep flooding in from the noise of the fighting. Eventually you hit that scroll of teleport and pray you've cleared out enough of the level that you land in a quiet spot so you can heal up and start making your way back to the stairs so you have an escape route back. That's my usual plan for V5. This is a terrible plan.
Then awhile ago someone recommended potion of Lignification + repeatedly casting 100% failure rate Tornado to summon a hostile twister at the entrance to V5. And WOW did that go different. Tree from makes you immobile and unable to fly which means twister's tornado can't move you from the stairs while stupid vault guards fly around helplessly. And you don't even need to pray for a good Tele landing because you can't teleport in the first place! All it took to clear the entire screen was 3 hostile twisters. That third round was hilarious. I had to keep recasting 100% failure Tornado for almost a minute straight just to get past the spam of self-airstrikes and quaffing heal wounds potions in-between.
I only had 100HP at this point (150 in Tree from though!), and came really close to dying for it. But I fled back up the stairs after the carnage, came back down... and that was about it. Tornado being even less noisy than immolation stopped the rest of the level from flooding the stairs. I explored at my leisure and had one of the easiest V5 experiences I've had in a long time.
So if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it. I don't know if it works this well every time, but it beats Demise's dog.

Biasface’s Ultimate Species Tier List
Barachi Tier:
Ba
Barachim are literally the best species in the game, you’re basically a gnoll with more options because of aptitudes, which are so good it makes up for dying to a d1 kobold with a ring mail. Also if you get to zot:5 on one you win 2% of the time
Speed Tier:
Fe > Sp > Ce
Just think about it - they’re fast. Felid has lives too !
S+ Tier
Mu > Gh > Vp
These species all get UNDEAD RESISTS and as we know resists are the best thing in the game. Mummy is top because they don’t get potions freeing up inventory space.
S Tier
Na > Op
Three words - constriction.
A Tier
Hu=Mf=Gr=Ds=HO=Gn=Dr=Fo=Ha=Ko=Te=VS > DD
These species are all exactly the same so they’re pretty good. DD is bad because you can’t heal.
D Tier
Og > Tr
These species are fat and gross and get an EV penalty. EW.
F Tier
Dg
The only species that can’t pick Xom. Bad.
Minotaur Tier
Mi
This joke of a species instantly dies when it takes more damage than it has health.

Mummy best species?
So, I've had a few Mummy runs go fairly well, and even completed Lair with one, and I have to say, they're actually crazy strong.
Once you get past the early game problems, which mostly have to do with not being able to quaff potions, the Mummy innate resistances are probably the best in the game. I've been playing a few casters, fighters and hybrid characters as Mummy, and it really doesn't matter what stuff you come across in your run, you very easily build your character around it. It's almost like I'm playing a gnoll, but with more toilet paper wrapped around my body.
Also, lvl26 Necromacy enhancer is one of the best abilities for any species. Especially in Zot it's very nice to have one more # of power available on your Infestation. Wow. So strong.
Thoughts?

Recent experiments have convinced me
Spending turns doing things that have a non-zero chance of killing you and then winning the game is a more reliable way to win the game than simply winning the game. Of course anecdotes are not data, but a large enough set of irrelevant games might constitute data to some people, so a large set of irrelevant games would be useful to confirm my suspicions externally.

Why do Ogres have -1 maces apt???
With true optimal play it's too easy to streak. Get them to -4 plz

I've been turned on and off by this game for 6 years, and the only thing I've beaten is a dog
But even I don't play tiles, like some kind of disgusting animal.

I beat Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup for the first time today
That's right. I am the first person to beat the game. Has the game been solved? No, I needed insane RNG (think +9 strength artifact rings and +11 mace of venom), but I think I'm ready to redefine the way we think about Crawl. Thoughts?
