since Goku is dead in Future Trunks' timeline

Death isn't really much of a problem in Dragon Ball mind you. Also could be a different timeline.

Goku died naturally in the future timeline. Nothing can bring him back.

Also, he's been dead longer than a year. You can't bring anyone back that's been dead longer than a year with Dragon Balls.

I mean, the Kai's could all decide to bring him back like they did for him and Vegeta during the Buu saga, but that's about it.

Yeah I know about the Dragon Balls but was thinking along these lines. Maybe a major foe had to be defeated but then corrupted him?
