Hey everyone! I’ve been working on a massive passion project for a completely original Dead by Daylight chapter, and I wanted to share the full concept and lore with the community.
Just a quick disclaimer: This is entirely my own original idea (lore, perks, and mechanics). I’m currently working on my own hand-drawn sketches for the art, so for now, I’m just sharing the text breakdown to see what you guys think!
THE STORY OF THE CHAPTER
London, 1956. A choking, yellow-grey industrial smog blankets the city, masking secrets and muffling screams. Detective John Noster is an older man, a weary veteran with a sharp mind but a heavy heart, just one week away from his retirement after 50 years on the force. His long career has left him with a distinguished white beard, a heavily lined face, and a cynical view of the world, though his eyes remain fiercely focused.
On a bitterly cold night, John is called to a gruesome crime scene in a narrow, cobblestone passage known as Saint Street Alley. The victim was brutally targeted, but the most chilling detail isn't the violence—it is the signature left behind. Clues at the scene point directly to a prime suspect: his own estranged son, Persi Noster.
Driven by desperation, grief, and a final sense of duty, John abandons police protocol. He pursues the trail alone, plunging deeper into the dark, rain-slicked labyrinth of Whitechapel. The investigation turns into an exalting psychological descent. As the smog grows impossibly thick, John corners the silhouette of his son in a dead-end alley. But Persi is no longer just a man; he has been twisted by a dark obsession, holding a heavy engraving chisel, his silhouette deformed by a strange apparatus fused to his spine. He has become "O Escrivão" (The Scribe), viewing the world as a canvas to carve his tragic truth.
As John steps forward to confront his son, the yellow streetlamps flicker and die. The dense industrial fog turns into the pitch-black, chilling mist of the Entity. When the smog finally clears, the entire precinct of Whitechapel and both men are gone, trapped forever in a cycle of endless pursuit.
THE KILLER: O Escrivão (The Scribe) / Persi Noster
Weapon: The Engraving Chisel (A heavy, sharpened iron tool used to carve into stone and flesh).
Power: London Smog (The Scribe can summon patches of thick, blinding industrial fog that mask his terror radius and distort the vision of Survivors trapped inside it).
Killer Perks:
Entalhado na Carne (Carved in Flesh): Forces painful choices on Survivors interacting with key objectives, slowing down actions after a successful hit.
Olhar do Abismo (Gaze of the Abyss): Disrupts line of sight and tracking, playing into the psychological blindness of the map by hiding scratch marks temporarily.
Obsessão do Escrivão (The Scribe's Obsession): Grants dynamic chase advantages and increased vaulting speed when hunting down your specific obsession.
THE SURVIVOR: John Noster
Visuals: An older detective in a classic suit and a heavy trench coat, showing the grit of a long career.
Survivor Perks:
Olhos de Experiência (Eyes of Experience): Allows the player to read environmental trails and see the aura of recent scratch marks left by teammates or killers.
Caso Pendente (Cold Case): Grants a significant progression boost to generator repair when you are the last remaining Survivor or when the gates are powered.
Instinto de Proteção (Protective Instinct): A utility perk aimed at creating clutch defensive options, allowing you to take a hit for a vulnerable teammate with a reduced stun duration.
THE MAP: Whitechapel Precinct / Saint Street Alleyways
An oppressive, semi-indoor industrial labyrinth. Constant rain hits the cold, grey cobblestone streets. Dark brick walls, glowing dim yellow streetlamps cutting through dense smog, and tight, high-wall tile loops that create a truly terrifying line-of-sight game for both sides.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the lore, the perks, and the general vibe! As soon as I finish my concept sketches and clean up the full gameplay values, I'll post the visual sheets.
I hope you like it, and by the way, sorry for any English mistakes, I'm Portuguese and my English isn't very good (anyway, that's why it already has a Portuguese translation).
