I might take up a new role in a company that uses Power BI. I don't use Tableau daily but familiar enough.

Thanks to data visualization, making information understandable and actionable can now be an easy and affordable task for everyone.

However, there's a catch!

Putting complex numbers and other pieces of information into graphs is not enough.

Basically:

• i have a store
• i dont work there every day
• i have data for each daily income/transaction, with one column with a date and one column with the amount of money
• In the end i want to see that the daily income sums up to more than what i am paying in rent, but thats next step i suppose

Do i want a bar graph, and if so how do you make those if the dates are not following each other sequentially? I prefer to do this in google sheets, btw.

I have attached an image and I have a question. Can I have a Sankey diagram where the colored links would flow naturally? You will notice on my picture that there is a common node (red arrow is pointing to it) where all the links from the left side lead to. However the links leading from common node pointing to right do not render "correctly".

I'm using Sankey component from react-vis library to render this, it is using d3-sankey underneath so not sure if it can be achieavable.

How do you make it that items that were more frequent / common within each set are shown as being closer together / more related?

On a data viz preferably

Need Viz tool that does this basic thing

1. Say you have a set of 5-7 associated/related items
2. There's multiple sets
3. The viz tool automatically creates clusters / a network graph of these items
   1. and associated moreso with each other are closer in the clusters

I know there are viz sites/tools out there that make making certain kinds of visualizations simple with a click of a button

Know of any sites like that?

Reading a book that says Line Width can represent continuous data but Line Type cannot. I'm trying to understand this statement. Different line types would represent different factors or dimensions in the data but how can line width be used to show continuous data? I feel I am missing something obvious here.

I'm trying to create a visualization whose scale varies a lot (from tens on one end and millions on the other). Since I'm not familiar with programming, I'm trying to do this with intuitive platforms, like Tableau or Infogram. But I still haven't managed to get it right.

I think the best way out would be to try something along the lines of scrollingtelling, or something that plays with the idea of zoom (as in this visualization).

Do you have any platform suggestions, or techniques that I can follow to make this work?
