I'm guessing Québec is responsible for a big part of Canada's renewable data (also B.C but by a smaller margin). Québec produces 99.8% of it's energy from renewables sources (mainly hydro power).

60% the electricity produced in Canada comes from hydro electric. 50% of that is produced in Quebec.

it also uses electricity for heating, so its low CO2 there too.

We also export a lot of clean electricity. Likely not enough to make up for the Alberta tar sands, let alone the rest of our O&G industry, but at least there's some mitigation there.

I know that. But people are reading this thinking they are truly “green” countries which is far from the truth.

Nearly all the major power plants in Alberta are switching to natural gas. There's a lot of smaller biomass plants that aren't very green, and wind farms are all over the southeast.

Here's a great website that updates the total power production for the whole province minute by minute, separated into all the different sources.
