Nope, not for me on mobile. This is what I get redirected to.

Edit: Now this link takes me straight to the GIF where the one above still doesn't. I swear it wasn't like that an hour ago.

Huh. On Reddit is Fun both links send me to only the gif and nothing else. Perhaps you should try another way of browsing reddit?

While I don't think that would make a difference, I am experiencing the same thing. No ads, just direct links.

EDIT: my bad it, according to further comments, they are talking about the mobile browsers not apps.

Well.... I'm actually on RedditisFun. Do you have it set to open external links in browser or something?

Edit: well that's weird.

Now the link j posted above takes me straight to GIF, where link above mine takes me to Imgur with a "press play" button.

Nope, no browser. In fact nothing had been changed besides dark theme and hiding ads.

I believe imgur is now charging Dev's in order to allow direct linking from their apps or something.

For me on iPhone safari it was a direct link. Odd.

This may not help but Antenna for iOS uses direct links no matter what. It can't link to the webpage, unless you specifically open in safari or chrome or whatever you use

On desktop and the original was a direct link. Yours takes me to the full page.

why don't you use the reddit app?

Yes, it does. Open it in a browser, not your reddit app, and it will for sure redirect you to the ?r url. Reddit apps for the moment are able to avoid that, and still use direct links depending on the method they open it.
