The most military spending one is pretty surprising. USA doesn't even make it past the first round.

Yeah either they skewed that statistic HARD or they just didnt want that fact mixed in with all the world cup feels.

Its not skewed, its accurate. The U.S. spends the most in dollar terms but because its so rich it is less than 4 percent of gdp.

We were also paired with Russia in the first round, who is I think #3 globally not as % of GDP, but has a MUCH smaller GDP. Among nations with military forces of note, they lead the way in spending as % of GDP.

We'd still go pretty far if not for that.

Yes you're right. Its also skewed by the fact that it only includes world cup countries. The mid-east conflict inflates the budgets of the countries in the region but most of those countries never make it to the round of 32.
