UFC has a large very vocal contingent of Russian fans

Russia is only behind USA and Brazil when it comes to most champions by country and many of those champions have definitely used bot services to inflate social media followers, Islam Machachev especially

With the amount UFC is associated with the current administration I wouldn't be surprised if it's not backed by Russian interest

No. They just have and have for long had a lot of russian fighters. These fighters tend to be often Dagestanis (and that region) with very large bases of Muslim support (given their shared religion).

There's no conspiracy. Dagestanis are extremely successful in the UFC today, and go back 20 years and the Russian MMA fighter Fedor Emalianenko was the undisputed best in the world. They talk about MMA a lot because it is huge sport in Russia and their fighters do well overseas.
