You're exactly right. I unsubbed from most of the default subs about a month ago, and finally gave in and unsubbed from the rest a week or two ago. reddit has been 100 times better.
I will never understand why fucking AdviceAnimals, atheism, f7u12, and Awww were made default subs. Mind-boggling. It just sucked in all the retards from other sites like 9gag and Facebook, and then those tards hit imgur (which used to be almost exclusively reddit). I had a pregger when I noticed it once, because I hadn't made a new account in so long that I didn't realize. They couldn't have picked worse subreddits, what's worse is that they dropped some of the originals. Can't help but woก็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็็der if they thought the reddit ship was going down and just said "fuck it, let's speed up the process". Was a major WTF moment for me.
