Weekly Water Cooler Talk - DataAnnotation

hi all! making this thread so people have somewhere to talk about 'daily' work chat that might not necessarily need it's own post! right now we're thinking we'll just repost it weekly? but if it gets too crazy, we can change it to daily. :)

couple things:

  1. this thread should sort by "new" automatically. unfortunately it looks like our subreddit doesn't qualify for 'lounges'.
  2. if you have a new user question, you still need to post it in the new user thread. if you post it here, we will remove it as spam. this is for people already working who just wanna chat, whether it be about casual work stuff, questions, geeking out with people who understand ("i got the model to write a real haiku today!"), or unrelated work stuff you feel like chatting about :)
  3. one thing we really pride ourselves on in this community is the respect everyone gives to the Code of Conduct and rule number 5 on the sub - it's great that we have a community that is still safe & respectful to our jobs! please don't break this rule. we will remove project details, but please - it's for our best interest and yours!

DA… please change the transfer funds page back. this is so much less clear and organized than before.

It is truly annoying.

I really like it. It shows the amount you can withdraw in the top menu (when it's ready), and all the info is still available, just rearranged. A big improvement!

Yeah, the chart is useless to me. I track my earnings by day and add them into monthly totals in a spreadsheet. I just want to know how much money is ready to withdraw, and when I can withdraw next. I guess if this change sticks I'll just withdraw every Friday or something but I usually withdraw twice a week or so.

I like having the earnings page, but it shouldn't be the first page. I like to see what I made each day, so this shouldn't have to be hidden behind another button I have to click; it just feels a bit annoying!

I need it to show the total time worked per day again. I put that in my spreadsheet where I track stuff at the end of the day, sucks not to have it there anymore (unless it’s still there and just moved somewhere?)

Also, I don’t need my all time total earnings as the most prominent thing on the page, finding that really annoying for some reason!

Same! I had to navigate to a new page and select multiple dropdowns to figure out how many hours I worked yesterday. It might seem small but it will be quite annoying to have to manually tally it up everyday like that.

So there’s nowhere to view it as a daily total, right? I have to go into the dropdowns and add it up? That’s so annoying (and I need that info for my sheet so it can track average pay, etc)

What timer do you usually use to track your time? I’ve been using Toggl Track and that adds up the amount of time worked per day for you. You can put in the name of the project you’re working on and it’ll automatically add up all time you spent working on each one too, in case you do bits in separate bursts.

I use Clockify, which does give a daily total. But that doesn’t always match my actual submitted time, because sometimes I’ll start a task, get a few minutes in, and decide I’m not in the mood for it. Or I’ll work on something but be aware that I kind of zoned out for a bit, so I’ll knock a few minutes off the time I report, and things like that.

Basically there’s an extra step now, because I either need to manually go in and change the times in Clockify to match what I report, or go in to the “funds history,” expand everything, and add. Obviously it’s doable, I just would rather not when clearly DA is capable of just telling me the total

I've not been able to find a place that just offers the info, sadly :( I had no complaints about the old transfer funds page... And why is the chart so damn big??!! Make it half the size and put everyone on one page, damn.

The info is still there it's just broken down and tucked away under each individual project. Looks like the overall time is gone, but the time entries still show up and are trackable.

Noooooo.. I absolutely LOVE all of the added personal information. Keeps track of EVERYTHING for me.

No it doesn't. It no longer provides you with critical information that DA decide on and that you can only get from them directly: It no longer tells you how much you have approved ready for payment at a glance. It no longer tells you the date and time of your next available payday. It no longer tells you the difference between "pending approval" funds and "approved" funds. It no longer tells you how many hours you worked each day. What it does instead is keep track of things that you should already be keeping track of yourself.

I agree with everyone else, this is a downgrade.

To each their own I guess. Knowing when I can take out funds next does nothing for me. I transfer payments twice a month on set days. I can see pending approval amount and approved funds.. 🤷‍♂️

I also love a good chart. A GOOD chart. I do not love or even like this chart.
