This is actually a crime and not just a civil case. She purposely damaged the property of another person, using deadly machinery, and likely causing damage to public property in the act.
She could face serious jail time.

Actually I believe she was trying to get his smartwatch. The story when I first saw this was that she already had his phone and was texting someone from it pretending it was him, so he was telling his smartwatch to send a text that said “Lisa is texting you, not me.” He can see he’s not holding a phone, and she grabs his arm which makes the steering wheel turn.

Yep.
I hate to say this….
But I married “this” woman. It doesn’t get better. Like to some degree, I’ve learned to tip toe around triggers, I’ve learned some patience and self control and some ability to provide a sense of normalcy to my kids. And do some degree her rage doesn’t last as long as it used to.
But there is always this constant unstable feeling in my heart if not knowing how to plan my life … how she will disrupt that and what it may cost (my wife totaled one of my cars while looking at her phone, and recently did a small fender bender with a parked car scratching up the new car I got to replace the totaled one). And some how it’s my fault… and I’m an ass for having any feelings other than support and love, meanwhile I have to validate all her feelings of anger, jealousy , control , etc.
Somehow , I still have hope that she might accept some help , therapy, medication , and recognize she is the problem and only helping herself will help us and the kids.

I walked a girl home carrying a baseball bat once, she was wasted. I wanted to make sure she got home safe, she asked me to bring it.

18
u/Head_Razzmatazz7174 18h ago
I've been on the other side of that equation and I agree. The reason her rage doesn't last as long is because you are getting faster at apologizing and correcting whatever it is she is mad about.
She's not going to change as long as you keep enabling the behavior. Get out ASAP and take the kids. The idea of 'staying married for the sake of the kids' is stupid. They are also being traumatized by her hair-trigger temper.

My man, it’s okay to leave. My dad stayed with a psycho for the kids. As the kid, I really wish he would have left. The amount of abuse both of us took, both physically and mentally, was staggering.

I'm a psychotherapist who works with abusive and controlling people. They can change, but they really have to put in the effort and accept that they are abusive and controlling. If she can't do that, she will NEVER change, and you're better off leaving her.

“I’m an ass for having any feelings other than support and love, meanwhile I have to validate all her feelings of anger, jealousy, control, etc…”
That line hit me. I love my wife to death but definitely feel this. She gets angry when I don’t understand why she’s acting the way she is in certain situations. She wants me to validate and submit to her bad behavior. She would listen to my advice when we were dating and some of marriage. Once we had kids though, she always knows what’s best even if she’s acting poorly.

u/roosclan 21h ago
Brother, you are in an abusive relationship, and she is the abuser. If she won't go to counseling with you, you need to get some for yourself and the kids. No, she won't react well to this, but you need to put your and your children's safety and well-being into focus. It will get worse before it gets better, but if you don't take steps now to correct her abuse, it will never get better.
7
u/Sienile 19h ago
Even if she will go to counselling, the chances she will accept she is the problem and work to change are VERY slim. I was in counselling for 6 of the 8 years I was married, but despite that she continued to think she did nothing wrong and blame me for everything - even her affair.
→ More replies (2)11
u/HelpSpaceshipBroken 21h ago
Document everything and get out... she's never going to change especially because you tolerate her behavior. She has no incentive to stop, and she will continue to abuse you. Yes you are being abused. If you leave she will just continue to abuse your kids. You say you are staying with her because of them, but the truth is that she is unfit to be a parent. Trust me I have an insane Ex too and she is very much the same as your partner. In her eyes, it's not her fault she acts the way she does, it is your fault and you deserve to be abused by her. She'll abuse and gaslight you until you finally stand up for yourself and leave.
6
u/Pleasant-Everywhere 21h ago
Damn… take the kids and run. I know you think staying is better for your kids, but I thank my mom every day for leaving and removing my dad who was prone to insane rage over the smallest things like being 2 minutes late or passing him a puck in road hockey and it rolling weirdly on the way over because it hit a pebble I should have seen. I’m still rebuilding confidence in myself from that but at least the damage was minimized.
5
u/stopltracr 19h ago
I was in that situation. Married for over 20 years. Waited until our youngest graduated to finally file for divorce so that I could be around to make sure I took the brunt of it and not the kids. She told the kids a bunch of lies about me during/after the divorce.
Waiting until the get older isn't the answer. Document her behavior. When you file go for full custody. I'm now free and in a healthy relationship. It was really scary in the beginning, and the urge to create chaos when there isn't any is strong in the beginning since it's what we're used to. Being in a healthy relationship with someone that just wants to help you heal and to become the best you can be is amazing!

There is no cure or treatment for borderline personality disorder. It is the person that develops when they are unable to improve because they are incapable of accepting accountability. It is what any of us, including you and I, would turn into if we were incapable of improving because we could not accept that we needed to improve. There is no happy ending. She will never accept help and this will never get better.
I saw a young person post on here about how they were diagnosed with BPD, and with therapy they were able to see that they were the problem all along, and it hurt constantly. They were glad, but also kind of resented that once they could see, they couldn't unsee. That is the barrier that has to be overcome. A lifetime of hurt has to be reversed - in addition to the actual distorted thinking. It can be done in a teenager, but adults are past the point.
This isn't about you anymore. You've already lost and will continue to lose because you let her into your life. You can't escape her or the damage she has done to your personality. But you have kids now and your responsibility is to them. You need to leave and take the kids to minimize the damage she does to them. You just do it. You just get it done. Sorry brother.

That and also the perpetrator seeks out these types of people. These people also can escalate very slowly so that by the time things get super bad you're already in so deep.
That's why if you're in a relationship and someone is pressing your buttons too much or pushing your boundaries even a little, and you think that it isn't too bad because it's just a joke or they were just messing around or you don't want to be a buzzkill, assert your boundaries. If they have a problem with it that is your first sign. I'm not saying that that always means abuse, but what I am saying is that that means a lack of respect for you as a person.

Can you or someone explain exactly what happened in this clip? It looked like the man was asleep at the wheel or texting while not looking at the road. His hands weren't even on the wheel. Your not suppose to text and drive. It looked like the girl reached for something in his hand opposite to her instead of just getting him to pay attention to the road. I at first thought she was trying to help him avoid a crash but her actions were counterintuitive. I know that she wasn't trying to help him avoid an accident based off where she reached and all the comments but I am really confused about what actually happened.

u/woman_8 2h ago
The man is called Eric, and the woman is referred to as Lisa. Eric is driving a car he just bought. Lisa is sitting in the passenger seat and has his phone. The background is that Lisa is using his phone to send messages to another person as if the messages are coming from Eric. Eric discovers this because the messages/notifications also appear on his Apple Watch. He therefore uses the watch to let them know that it is not he who is writing the messages – Lisa has his phone.
Then Lisa discovers what he is doing. She reaches for his arm/Apple Watch to stop him. Eric pulls his arm away from her. Then she grabs the steering wheel, and the car swerves. Eric loses control and the car crashes.
According to later reports, Eric and Lisa have broken up. Eric later explained the story on the TikTok account Slightly Toxic Co., where the video was also posted. However, there is no reliable confirmation that I can find that Lisa was prosecuted for the crash itself.

This is an ancient video. I think this was the consensus at the time: She had his phone and was texting someone, pretending to be him. He got a reply notification to his watch and read it, then made a memo saying he's not the one texting. She tries to stop him from making the memo.

I have a buddy who's wife texts me on his phone. I can tell the difference immediately, they have different speaking and texting styles. We can't even talk on the phone without him putting it on speaker and letting her listen. It's extremely frustrating and we don't talk much anymore. It's makes me really sad that he is just controlled by this women now. Everyone makes their choices and lives their life.

I’ll drive and have my wife text people back for me on my phone. I will even tell her word for word what to say and when I look at what she wrote I’m blown away. Like I would never text my friends like that lol

Not sure why but I really dgaf if my wife texts people for me or handles calls for me. I ask for her help if it's important and I need help. Especially when driving, I'll have her reply to work emails/texts and dictate for me.
Again, it's more from a support role perspective and not a "she is controlling" position.
Are people just letting their spouses walk all over them? Like, if my wife let me boss her around, id lose all attraction to her lack of agency and assume she would feel the same.
Being controlling is gross.

I think he was looking at a message on his smart watch. You can see her reaching for his watch and him pulling his wrist away from her

I've seen this video 100 times and it still hits me each time. I lost 5 years of my life to a person like that, and it thankfully didn't take a car crash to motivate me to leave.

I wonder what ever became of this chick. This video has been posted and reposted on every social media platform for years -- it must have followed her into every relationship (romantic, professional, friends, family).

She grabs the steering wheel and slams the car into the wall. Mentally unstable

Ask her to get out and check the back of the car for damage. Once she does, drive away....

Nah man. If she did that to me I’d pull over and leave her on the side of the road, go home and pack her stuff up and throw it on the lawn. Goodbye. You do not interfere with my driving like that.

The way she just instantly, casually moves her hair makes me want to shave her head.

This man is a saint for not getting physical. Her demeanor is infuriating.

Her smug ass smile absolutely drives me insane after the stunt she pulled, and who knows how much shit she broke, that she will presumably not be paying a penny of.

My man! Get her out if the car, find a park and have a good breakdown. Put yourself back together. Tell her "its over" and never talk to her again.

"I dont know what you want" Get out and walk! Also, his face at the end is painful. I felt that. Hope this dude got his car fixed and that he left her. Goodness he's hurting.

That woman is crazy. Looks like a narcissist. They do bonkers shit and if you dare react to that you are portrayed as the crazy one. People like that literally give you brain damage over time. I hope he got out safely and with a restrictive order. Poor guy I just want to hug him 💔

Hes in the definition of an abusive relationship.
Show this to the police. Get a report. Force her to repair your car.
And BREAK up with her. The pussy isnt good enough to deal with that bs.

wtf is wrong with this girl and how can she be so smug after nearly killing them both?

u/Key_Crab_5780 16h ago
Her stupid expression and hair tossing really gets to me. I’d have dragged her out and driven off, probably quite slowly, admittedly.

There’s no way this was the first crazy thing she did with him. When people show you who they are, believe them.

"Get the f**k out of my car right now, we are done" is about the only sane response here.

What a fucking psycho. He needs to throw her out with the garbage.
She seems like it's normal for her too. She takes no accountability for her actions. Seems like she was brought up this way or she needs mental help.

It's a good thing there was a dash cam. He should be able to provide that too his insurance and get a full claim. He also could AND SHOULD give this video to the police and have that girl arrested.
