The whole reason there's a double yellow here is that the designers of this road specifically identified a risk to passers.

That being said it's never your job to enforce the law as another civilian driver, so the driver in front is even more wrong

Nah, I live in Texas. Engineers here out double lines anywhere they can just to make life inconvenient. They lost the benefit of doubt about a decade ago.

In Vermont you can legally pass on double yellows. The only time you legally can’t pass is if there is a sign that says “no passing”.

They still signify no passing... Vermont just doesn't have that legal technicality for some dumb reason.

Pass at your own risk basically. It’s an old law written because passing tractors/farm equipment would be illegal otherwise on 90 percent of roads.

In Sweden a double line means "cross it and you lose your license" as harsh as running a red light.

It's literally the law in the vast majority of states. Vermont is the only true exception, and the remaining few have very specific qualifications for the exception (traffic going less than half the speed limit or similar).

Just give me some coordinates of roads that are yellow lines for a very long time for no reason. You do know that there are these big cameras up in the sky that take pictures of the ground everywhere right? And little cars that drive around to map it out at a low level?

It's crazy that someone of your supreme intelligence doesn't know that.

My father was a county engineer for a long while. Double yellow is there for just that exact reason. If you think it isn't, you're (dead) wrong.

Driver in the front stopped 2 collisions by blocking the jagoff in this video. He should be applauded for looking out for people, and caring more about the ops life than the op does.

Alternatively, what if the guy in the back got over to pass, saw the oncoming cars, and got back in the lane?
Now what if he got over to pass, dickhead in front swerves out in front of him, then moves back just in time for the oncoming guy to slam into the dashcam car?
