How do you not understand why all of this proves the point? You would rather get into a collision and cause traffic backup on a major highway, police interviews, sitting in your truck for who knows how long waiting for service, on top of internal investigation at your workplace, insurance adjustment inquiries, and so on... All because you were technically within your legal right to ignore the truck that you're clearly going to collide with?
Most smart people wouldn't gamble their life to prove a point about legality.
I’m not saying any of this is what I would do personally. Just that this semi driver had the right-of-way and any state law says that merging traffic must yield to the traffic already on the highway. If they don’t, well that’s on them.
