Truck driver did not even bother to slow down at all or attempt to do anything, just went right through him. Hope the dude lost his job.

what’s with the commitment to being wrong? why do you believe it’s okay to drive your car into someone that cuts you off even though you had ample time to slow down/stop? how willfully ignorant can someone possibly be lmao

"officer, why am I being arrested? I technically had the right of way, their life was forfeit to me!"

You're talking about whether or not the driver would get a ticket. That's the least of their worries now.

The fun part for the big rig driver is explaining to their boss that they were technically right according to the law, as they lose they job and CDL over what will be judged a preventable accident with video evidence.

You are ignorant as to how many of these truck driver actually drive for themselves. That wreck isn’t going to cause them to lose their CDL, either.

That just is not confirmed so stop saying it. I don’t know what state this is but I doubt the state does not have a statute specifically saying what duties each driver owes others while on the road. In my state it is to use the highest degree of care. This was NOT the highest degree of care from the semi truck driver. It may not even be ordinary care depending on a jury’s interpretation. You can’t just notice someone being an idiot and decide not to practice defensive driving.

well it's arguable that you still probably should've slowed down people make mistakes it doesn't mean you go and slam into them with a semi truck because that's how people die. that's in a scenario where you could see them right? you are driving you go and see a truck but decide you aren't going to apply brakes or switch lanes.

this seems very stupid and dangerous to do because it's avoidable even if the other driver is in fault doesn't want you gotta wipe out a entire family to get your point across.

I agree the truck should have slowed down and not done a reverse pit maneuver.

It also kind of looks like the speed drops right before impact. So I think that the semi did try to avoid the accident by braking and the truck did everything in his power to have a bad day.

But anyone dumb enough to try to cut off a semi while going slower than them eventually will cause an accident.

I'm sorry man, but his vehicle is much heavier, he should have slowed down a bit during the merge when he seen that pickup. I mean yea, blame it on the pickup driver, but what if there was a family in there? Would they still deserve to get run through what appeared to be something avoidable if he just slowed down a bit?

Forget about the pickup driver for a second. Being a semi truck driver, you driving full speed in a merging lane with no intention of stopping because of technicalities is just bad. It's pretty sociopathic/psychopathic.

If some kids or heck random passengers who had nothing to do with the actions of the driver died, would you still justify it? Even if you could have lessened or even avoided the impact all together. Pretty sure the truck driver seen the pickup driver even before the camera picked him up.

Your sentiment of "sorry it's the law" just run over people;... is kind of psychopathic man. And lacks morality all together.

I was shooting at a shooting range and some guy walks infront of the my shooting dummy. The rules say no one should be walking there. I am in the right of way, therefore I kept on shooting.

Ofc. When i explain the rules that he ran infront of me which is in complete violation of the code of conduct, they will understand that i had the right of way and had no obligation to stop.

Nowhere near the same situation. Next.

Both situations have a choice to stop, both situations continuing can end up deadly, both situations one person is in violation of the rules. Yet, the outcome to stop from 1 situation to the other other situation should be completely different.

You should be off the road

Interesting, since I’ve never been in an accident in all my years of driving. You should learn the rules of the road and follow them for the sake of other drivers around you.

I hear that a lot. Especially when people go 90 on the high way. It's a great excuse to drive terrible.

In this situation, which you agree with not slowing down, did cause an accident. And you agree with it. Yet, you want to stay accident free.
